Bad thing is, when I sent in a support ticket about the problems ith the patch and even put links to threads with people with the problem, EA tried to pin the blame on me and were denying/ignoring entirely that there is a problem with the patch >.>.

its good that there are many of us experiencing the problem. I've had a look on ea's forums but to be honest they arent much use and 90% of the time you just get useless feedback from idiots who post comments like "YOR RIG SUXX0000RZZZZ!!!!11111" etc.

if we can get good feedback here, including people's system specs then i'll post a link on the ea support forums and also email their tech support pointing them at this thread.

IMHO the patch is dodgy for a lot of people, no doubt it was rushed for the holidays.

Hi Peeps,

I've just had the same problem. Was playing BF2 and after doing lots of the usuall alterations to my settings finally got my computer running smooth.

Thought it was too good to be true, as 30mins in and BAM!!!!

FULL SYSTEM REBOOT!!!

Now I'm just hoping this is something to do with BF and not a virus as I've only just reformatted my system. Sounds more than likely BF from what your all saying, I've noticed alot of you are being kicked out back to the desk top but has anyone had the same problem as me and had the computer completely restart on them???

Also, this is going to sound really lame, but what's this "VANILLA" you're all talking about?

I havent been rebooted completely... Did you get a blue screen?

Also, this is going to sound really lame, but what's this "VANILLA" you're all talking about?

Vanilla refers to the original bf2, i.e. unmodified version (in a similar way to vanilla/chocolate ice cream! )

Could you tell me where you reported the issue? we should all report the same issue at the same place, maybe then they will take notice? if you experience CTD during the game, you should find some error reports in the \My Documents\Battlefield 2\Dmp directory, i.e. bf2_v1.1.2554-356.0_2005-11-26_10.55.48.dmp. Its possible to debug these logs using some tools from Microsoft and i would imagine these would be useful when logging the fault with EA.

Is anyone else`s crashing in the middle of a game?

i dont crash in the middle of a game but when i go to join a game and it has never happaned with vanilla anyone got any ideas, i have neva had so much trouble with a game, they rushed it way to much and cant wait to see if they fis all these problems in the next patch

WEll, When I first got BF2:SF, the furst couple of days were great, no crashes, only low fps untill I updated my nividia drives and that fixed the fps problem. As of today I crash about twice an hour. Wonder if it has something to do with the nividia drivers.

I'll try rolling back to my old drivers and see if that helps.

WEll, When I first got BF2:SF, the furst couple of days were great, no crashes, only low fps untill I updated my nividia drives and that fixed the fps problem. As of today I crash about twice an hour. Wonder if it has something to do with the nividia drivers.

I'll try rolling back to my old drivers and see if that helps.

which version are you rolling back to? i've tried 77.77 but i still have the problem (and i think the graphics were choppier with this version IMHO)

Both BF2 and SF was crashing mid game when I updated my Nvidia graphic card drivers. I rolled back to previous drivers and have not a had a problem since!

I tried updating drivers on several occassions to see if it actually was the issue and it only crashed when I had latest drivers installed.

Mine crashes like every 30mins, first i get major fps drop to about 10 then cant even move its so bad, screen goes black and nothing happens..... I love this game but i can only play for short periods because of this ...

I rolled back to version 78.01 from version 81.85
