I disagree on Night Flight. I played it a couple of times tonight, and it has a couple of great set pieces. The Terminal Building offers some great choke points unless you know the sneaky way up (hint: look for vents). The big cargo plane flag is easy to defend if you just hang low outside with night vision on and wait for the enemy to come. Grapling hook and zipline come in very handy on this map, both for ambushes and assaults on flags. The heli pad flag can be taken totally by surprise if you use those two tools wisely.

I love all the new maps. I didn't realize how tired I was of all the regular BF2 maps until I got a new map to play.

Iron Gator is awesome in theory, but in practice it often becomes to hard for the MEC to get a foothold on the map. Also, if you team managed to nab all the attack choppers, you will own the runway so much it's not even funny.

And yes - the interior, especially the hangar bay, is so laggy it's practically unplayable for me on the exact same graphics settings that never had ANY lag whatsoever in vanilla BF2.

Awesome map in theory, somewhat flawed in practice, but still great fun in the end. :)

I really like Night Flight, it's great fun moving onto and between rooftops with your squad, alternating between grappling hook and ziplines to get around. And there's lots of fun to be had for snipers and assault people, since there's both large open spaces and tight indoor areas.

I don't have the patience to review all maps, but to be honest, on average they're really superior to the regular BF2 maps. I have to admit though that I've gotten somewhat bored with SF now and then, since even if the individual map rocks, they all play pretty much similar to each other. Vanilla BF2 has a much greater degree of diversity; I feel an important part of the core of the BF gameplay is lost when the role of vehicles are diminished as much as they are in many maps of the expansion.

On the other hand, if you're really into the infantry combat parts of BF2, you'll fall straight in love with all the SF maps. :)

Yeah, I was in team that was winning all the maps round after round, but we couldn't win playing MEC on Iron Gater. I don't think that map is balanced.
