Gunny,if I have the game that I boungt...?My problem is the same,in registry,BF2 key is encrypted,but BF2:SF isnt encrypted...

What can I do?

Did you take a look in the post I link to above. There is a tool fra EA that lets you enter the cd-key and where to find the cd-key for bf2:sf. Maybe it enters it correctly for you. Else try uninstalling and reinstalling as linked to in this thread too.

In the older post I assumed that the keys were the same, which they are not. It seems they are at first part of the encrypted cd-key, but I didn't check properly and didn't look at all the characters, my bad :wall:

I tr y to apply the batch bf2copykey.zip that was posted here by gunny,and the game dont give me the error!!!I join in server,but inmediately kicked with the message:you have your game modified,... ...

Thanks for the help Gunny...thanks m8...but the problem with the downloable version,isnt the same that the DVD version...

I install the patch sucesfully,but when I join a server,the game say me that I have a invalid cd key...

Pufffff...could we solve this problem?snif snif...I dont know what to doooo!!!!!:cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

The tool is not the one you mention, but is mentioned in the post I link to here.

I don't know if this has been discussed, as i read over the post rather quickly. I had the same problem with vanilla bf2 and when I installed SF same thing happened again. The fix - is to run battlefield2_code.exe - enter your original BF2 serial - then run the BF2codecheck program - then open up bf2 SF and go into a DIFFERENT server - do not attempt to join the same one as the one you saw the original message. This is the key, as it never works if you go to the same one. Once the map is loaded and you are in the game, leave and you should be able to join the original server that you got the message. Hasnt failed me yet! Best of luck!

I'm having the same problem I'm reinstalling again. I really wanna play with my buddies on SF. The bots on singleplayer aren't any fun...

I might have avoided this by doing the following:

When you're installing BF2:SF, register it when it prompts for it. When I did so, it came back with an invalid CD Key, and showed an encrypted key (presumably BF2's). I simply erased that and typed in the key off the manual again and have had no issues.

Worth a shot.

Actually I figured most didn't bother registering it. (Not sure if it's needed, usually isn't.) So instead they'd hit this error when the game launched instead of during registration /shrug.

Do anyone have a tool that takes an unencrypted key in the HKLM\Software \Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2 Special Forces\ergc and writes back the encrypted version of the key in the same place?

It seems like the Battlefield*_code.exe takes a key and puts it into the registry unencrypted and the BF2CDKeyCheck.exe encrypts the key in the reg.
My problem is that I only have BF2CDKeyCheck.exe's that operate on the BF2 key and branches in the registry, not the SF key.

Thanks Oliver,but lot of us have a similar problem,but not the same.We have the DVD version,its a diferent problem,and we dont know what the problem yet...It could be for the SF key encriptation...

We are desperates...:cry:
