The ak is good for poor militaries who are ill trained....

Give them a hightech weapon and it would be ruined in a week.

In perfectly working conditions though Western weapons win out.

And one little piece of sand and you can say good bye to that hightech gun/vechicle/plane/chopper :p

I have only fired the AK47 in RL and let me tell you...they aren't as crappy as everyone would have you believe.

During my time in the Army, we did a field excercise where we had 4 platoons set up in defensive positions in random areas of Ft. Stewart, GA. Every night, one platoon would play the OpFor and would get issued AK47's that were confiscated during Desert Storm and attack whichever platoon they could locate. We had to search for them because they wouldn't tell us where they were, they just gave us a VERY rough section that they could be found.

Anyway to make a long story longer...we were using NVG's and saw a guy smoking a cigarette from quite a ways away so we went to that position. They were waiting for us and lit us up with .50 cals. In all of the chaos, I tripped over a log while running for cover and landed face first in a puddle of thick Georgia mud.

The AK was covered in mud and I simply recocked it and started firing like there was no tomorrow. Never once did it jam. Anyone who has used the M16 knows that you have to be meticulous about cleaning it because it is very prone to jamming if any foreign material gets near the bolt.

So with the 7.62mm rounds they fire and the reliability that they have, they are not horrible weapons at all. They do have quite a bit of recoil which takes away from their accuracy when firing full auto though.

Answer this. How come in vanilla BF2 I go to MEC and can get my unlocks, Then I go to the BF2SF and go MEC and can not get my unlocks. You all say it gives it more realsim..lol What about vanilla BF2 now? LOL The regular MEC army can get the SF unlocks but the SF MEC CAN'T!! For F*** sake there the Special Forces for MEC. NOT regular amy. Seriously this is not making ANY since.

m16 is a peice of sh1t AK-47 is reliable thats why it has lasted so many decades.

You can't really beat AK's bang for the buck ratio, however, money can buy much nicer guns out there. Then again, you can't beat $400 for an assault rifle. It's like 4 times cheaper than an M4A1.

OICW for example, is clearly superior to an AK101, however it costs several thousand dollars. Plus the high explosive 20mm slugs for it aren't exactly easy to come by. Also, I imagine it's very fragile.

Edit2: Fabrique Nationale makes very nice guns, btw. The P90 is actually much superior to an AK101/103, in real-world specs (and I mean just by looking at the numbers, it has superior effective range, fires higher energy projectiles, faster rate of fire, bigger clip, weight less, etc). Though not nearly as reliable...
1) it's battery powered
> that means it will become a semi-auto only, in the even of an EMP blast, or if you drain the battery
2) uses hard-to-obtain 5.7mm ammunition
3) difficult to reload (though you do get a pretty damn big mag, so it's a fair tradeoff IMO)

it took me 5 minutes to figure out what was going on all they're doing is giving people the opportunity to use the new STANDARD kit weapons from SF in BF2 as an added bonus to those of us who bought the expansion

I really don't get what the big confusion is about I'll admit I would rather use the G36E in SF as MEC or Russian but it doesn't work that way deal with it

i dont think you can unlock the SF guns in SF, it goes by the team. like the seals have the SCAR's, and the SAS have the G36's. i think you can just use those unlockable SF guns in vanilla BF2.
