    Re: Next Expansion Pack

    I call ********.

Making BF2's engine include deformable terrain would require a total rewrite of the entire engine...

Never gonna happen with bf2... bf3 maybe.

Im not beleiving this till its got some actual proveable evidence.

        Sounds SUPER!

I wouldn't hope too much for that destroyable environment addition. This is pretty major. Unless the original engine was smartly built for future support of destroyable environment, which I doubt (judging from the somewhat mediocre engine), they won't have the time to do it. At least not without bugs

It would be interseting though if they will. They could maybe support the upcomming AGEIA PPU (Physical Processing Unit).

          Re: Next Expansion Pack

Everyone who has been playing the battlefield series knows that EA never released a mod/expansion pack that was as good as the original game. Most of their mods get a moment of fame for a month or so then disappear.

Community supported mods are usually much better than those EA expansion packs/mods.

The problem is that EA started to be very creative in finding ways to force the people to buy their new expansion packs. I am sure that many people bought SF just to unlock their weaponsand use them in bf2.

I doubt anybody seriously bought SF to get to use unlocks in bf2... they give you NO advantage and are just a variation.

The reason community made mods for BF games tend to do better than xpacs is simply becuase they give variation from the original theme... There was realism mods or Desert combat etc... All radicaly different... whereass the xpacs are just the original with a few bitz of sparkle that eventualy wear off.

Thats the case for basicly all the expansions ever created by any publisher... I think EA are getting better though by adding some variety to the core game via the unlocks but that was not one of the reasons i bought SF (nor the majority of people i would imagine)

              To original poster:

Either you are lying, misinformed, or neither. If the case is neither, 75% of the cool parts of that will be cut out, I'm sure.

I just can't see anyway for them to get moving ships that you can't stand and have other vehicles on... Try it in the bf2 engine, it doesn't like it...

                    It's undoubtedly true.
The next working title for the BF2 expansion pack was Battlefield 2: Open Waters.
Features cross continental warfare to navel asset capture (I guess that means shipyard/oil platforms) Includes new unconfirmed gamemodes, similar to CTF, but capture the ship. The aircraft bombers feature anti-navel weapons, and a marine helicopter (maybe a modified BH? or the British Merlin helo, makes sense for the UK forces) with submarine detection technology (Thomson Marconi Sonar) and torpedoes.

aright to clear up some things......
Like I said I don’t know if all this information is 100% of what they plan on implementing into the next expansion and this was just a meeting conducted. As some have stated about the destroyable environment, I could be wrong but it sounded to me like it was not a total destroyable environment and more things like fences and some buildings and key locations could be destroyed. Also for the navy class I was told there will be 5 ships added all sinkable witch are a Cruiser, Destroyer, submarine, aircraft carrier and a patrol boats. I was told that these ships will be sinkable as well as repairable. Also I looked into it and almost every navy in the world has cruisers and destroyers. You are thinking of battle ships witch have been discontinued. Destroyers have almost no guns Except for 2 AA type you see in BF2 and one 120mm Gun mounted on the front of the ship. In real life they escort air craft carriers and defend fleets along with cruisers witch are not as heavily armored and do not have as many weapons. There capable of firing many missiles like tomahawks anti-Submarine and anti-ship and anti air as well as many other types. As for the credibly of the source we know there making another expansion its just a matter of what it will include and according to my source EA will officially announce there planes next Month.

So...if this were to be real...it would be the opposite of SF, vehicle-based combat.

                            64 players
                            2 teams of 32
3 "careers" in each 32 man team
                            roughly 11 per each "career".....

                            Not gonna happen.

What will happen is there will be 2-3 "army" guys another 2 "sailors" and the other 2 dozen will be camping on the aircraft carrier with their pilots helmets up their ass.
