I'll admit, the flashbangs are annoying when you're playing with a server full of noobs that can't kill unless they aren't being shot at. It would have been better if they left it up to the server admin(s). Something like.. allow flashbangs or not as an option in the server config. The new unlocks.. No big deal. A good player doesn't need an upgraded weapon to own.

yea ive encountered people spamming flashbangs at the beginning of Karkand. it really does change how the map is played and i like that

Flashbangs rn't that hard to avoid u kno... u see one drop, look the other way for 50% reduction in blindness, if u get completely blinded, look upon ur trusted mini-map(cuz that isn't blinded) and get to some cover SOLDIER!

I signed on yesterday and one of my squadmates mentioned that ge had SF and asked if we'd seen the flashbangs go off yet.
We all said no, gathered at the Gasstation (on Kark) and asked him to findly flash us.

Whoa. The effect is perty cool and a lot more intense than I expected.

Hehe, he then proceeded to suicide and respawn enough times to supply the entire squad with the things (we just grabbed his gear), grabbed a hummer, piled into the back and flashed the crap outta the nearest enemy CP.

Damn the raction was funny!
"Damned SF whores!!" was the cry.
It were da funnies!

i hate how i havent bought the SF expansion but people who have can use the new weapons. i just hate being flashbanged and i have to go out of my way to pick up a pack to get it. its just a bummer for now!

No.... You have been a very naughty boy... You need to be punished, So EA made the 1.12 patch so that the happy owners of SF can come and deal out some ûber pwnage to punish you for having the audacity to NOT buy their precious expansion..

Meh. I'm tempted to feel the same way, but common sense tells me that if I wanna play with the new toys, I should shell out the bucks.

If I felt strongly about SF toys un-balancing standard BF2, I would just go play mods.

I bought BF2 as a new game where 1 of the features was the rank system... And what options do I have...

1. Play mods and give up the hole rank system (crap.. because I payed for it and like it)

2. Play normal BF2, and have a disadvantage because EA decided it would be good marketing to let some ppl have something the others cant (and dont say "Just buy it"... I DONT want to buy it, thats the hole point.. didnt when they announced it and dont want to now...

IMO... It should be even odds for all... Christ, the least they could have done was to include a little Check box for the ranked BF2 servers : "SF-weapons ON / OFF" then BF2 players and ranked serverOWNERS who dont want the expansion could have a choice if they want to play vs. SF weapons or not..

I wonder if we will see the same style in the next expansion?

I am a little torn, because while it is fun to take a holiday in SF land and come back to the vanilla game with some new toys. It would be nice to see some more maps, weaposn and vehicles on the vanilla servers where everyone could play...

Of course the downside of that would be the exclusion fo anyone not willing to get the expansion to older servers only (and probably unranked). At least SF keeps everyone in the vanillla game and you don;t have to buy the expansion to keep playing...

You're entitled to your feelings. I'm almost there, but some of the toys do seem interesting enough to tilt me the other direction.
I haven't picked it up yet and I'm gonna hold off for atleast a little while.

Well, suporting mods does make your opinion known. Yeah, sucks that you can't use the ranking system, but playing mods lets EA know where your priorities are.

If you feel really strongly about not supporting payed for exansions atleast try some mods out. See if there's anything that is interesting enough to out-class the ranks for "cool" factor.

It's not that big a disadvantage. It's not like SF contains any super weapons. Rather it gives you more flexibility. I've just come off a server where some of my squad mates had SF installed. Two things were really cool about it. Our squad got to use the new toys ("Bang 'em and I'll charge!") and I got to play with some of the new toys when they fell.

Those SF toys are something you can live with. If your skills are sharp, you should be able to still kick lotso tail.

They chose not to do that tho. Nutting much we can do about it.

BTW, they have made mention of "Un-offical Ranked Servers".
This could be your saving grace, if it's implemented. Basicly what it would allow is for users to run their own servers with a local version of the ranking system. You would get awards, unlocks, and ranks just as you would normally, but they only count on that server.

In theory, this will allow people to run these locally ranked server with Mods, new maps, and/or without SF toys.

You can still play with Sf weapons as a Vanilla user. Once installing patch 1.12. A guy flashbanged me and came in to shoot me but i killed him instead. Anyway i capped the flag and no one was there so i just changed kits. I got the flashbang but then i died like one minute later and never got to use anything. Stupid snipers ...

I considered buying it, but in reality, the mods that will surface will be well worth my wait. Ta hell with SF or ranked servers for that matter. Won't be long now. I hope....
