If you think Battlefield 2 runs poorly, you should play Call of Duty 2.

That game has dated visuals and runs like complete crap compared to Battlefield 2.

For me, BF2 gives me a constant 60+ FPS; for Call of Duty 2, I'm lucky if I can pull 40 FPS.

Re: I said I wasnt gonna buy it....

I know this will not make sense at first but here goes: this is a battlefield 2 community discussion forum, NOT a "I hate EA so I'm gonna leave now" forum.

Really, if you BravoTwoZeroUK, and CS-Evolution, and SpeedyGonzales, and NoobZilla, and all you other whinging gits hate this game, and this forum so much, why are you here? Why do you keep coming back?

Are you lot on some kind of crusade to drag down the rest of the BF2 community (who, for the most part enjoy this game) with you?

Just to annoy you; I got BF2 for free, and I pre-ordered SF without even knowing what was in it.

Call me an EA fanboy if you must, but preach your poison elsewhere.

thats wierd, its exatcly the opposite for me. I have a 6800, wgigs ram and an amd 2.5 gighz processor... i can get about 50-30 fps (depending on whether stuff is happening or not) in bf2 (1280 1024 2xAnti aliasing), but can play the COD2 demo at a good constant 70 that doesnt ever dip below 50, with the same settings...

Anyways, back to the original point of the thread.

IRT original poster: That sucks. you shouldn't have bought it. You did validate what I thought was true though, that at least 50% of BF2/SF players have a good deal of difficulty getting it to work, which is compounded by EA's really crappy patches (see my sig).

To all you fanboys... get over yourselves... BF2 aint that great. They didn't make the game they told me 2 years ago they were gonna make... they cut out all the immersive features and reduced it to Halo2 + more vehicles and more bugs.

I stopped playing this pathetic excuse for a game called Battlefield 2
about a month ago when the kiddies took over and the game went to
sh*t. I was more than unhappy with EA and DICE's lack of effort in this
over hyped game title.. bugs that they cant seem to fix even after
BETA testing, DEMO testing, and 2 or 3 patches.. simple little things
            too.

Anyhow.. I bought a couple other games I have really enjoyed playing
since then..Brothers in Arms.. Call of Duty 2.. Battlefront II.. all good
in their own ways.. all complete, finished, and for the most part totally
bug free.. online server players are less of the kiddie types too, which
helps MAJORLY. Admins are more active in keeping things clean and
            fair.

Anyhow I said I wasnt gonna buy Special Forces, but while I was at
Comp USA today buying a new laser mouse.. I seen it on the display,
said to myself "what the hell, maybe they even got fixes for the original
            BF2 in with it.."

Well, I just installed it on both my machines, (both pretty good gaming
pcs..) and I have been trying for the last 10 minutes on both machines
to get connected to 1 server.. YEP...just 1... any one, I dont care..
No go on either machine.. OPTIMIZING SHADERS...wait wait wait..
Server kicks me for 'modified content' then I get a 'wrong password'
for 4-5 times when I try to reload the game and start again.. what a
total joke that is, huh? Wrong password? hahahahahahaha.. but on
the 5th time it works.. omfg..

So, Im packaging this up and taking it back for a refund.. I dont have
time to troubleshoot EA/DICES bullcrap this time..

modified content ? lmfao.. damn right its modified.. modified with your
            junk-azz code..

Battlefield 2... Is there any question this was the worst code written
in 2005? I challenge someone else to show me another 2005 title this badly written.

I'm not being funny mate but you just made a complete arse of yourself.

You said you weren't gonna buy it because you thought it would be crappy? But you did anyway and now you say its a bad as you tohught it would be?

Your a fool. Also you talking about 'kiddies' is kinda ironic talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

I hate to say this, but it sounds like the problem is you. I have never had one problem with the game and tons of other people don't either. Did you follow the instructions for installing? Had you actually changed any local files manually?
