    Re: Performance Problems with SF....

I got the same ish when the battle gets heavy it slows down real bad...I got a Dell 2.6 GHz 1.5 gb ram an ATI radeon 9800 128mb card....maybe its another memory leak like the first "update"??? After quitting and unloading my comp takes a bit to recuperate from the memory drain...incredible how an add on can do so much...

I wonder if there's a problem with the new server software?

Seriously, if the game runs fine offline and only chugs online...? Or do you lot get an FPS drop offline too?

After all, it wouldn't be the first time the server-side software had a problem... Oh memory leaks, how we love thee.

I get alot of lag especially on the iron gator. I never got lag like this before with bf2. I have athlon xp 2400, 1gb ram, ati 9800, mostly on low. I mean seriously, LOW. Gameplay is like this, smooth for a bit then chug chug chug, then smooth again for a bit, then chug chug chug again. I believe this behaviour is related to not having enough ram. So it seems the expansion requires more ram than the original. At least in my case. This sucks I mean usually expansions' requirements are along the same lines as the originals right? Any thoughts?

I am in the same boat as you my friend "literally" The map thats giving me problems is Iron Gator. I dont understand it. Im running all options ultra-high , 6x aa , 100 vd and have had no lag problems in bf2 vanilla. Actually SF is fine too other than Iron gator. I lag like crazy on some parts of the ship.
I dont think its do to needing more ram. I say this because I have 1.5 and when i check the usage wile lagging the game is only using maybe 900+ and I have 512 left over. I really hope this gets fixed because I dont want to kill all the graphics settings to play one map!
          My system is , xp3200+ , 1.5gig ram , x800 xl 256mb . xfi xtreme music.

Same problem as everyone here. I am not able to run SF the same as I am with vanilla BF2. Iron Gator and night time maps seem to give me the most problems.

With all that said, I must admit I shouldn't even be able to play BF2 at all with my specs. (1.8 768mb RAM 5200fx 128mb). What is frustrating though, is that I was/am able to play all 16 or 32 player maps from BF2 (with 20+ fps) and now I can't really play(15fps or less) any of the 16 player SF maps.

i've found that most ppl just lag around the buildings or in the buildings, which would explain the iron gator problem...

                Re: Performance Problems with SF....

I have performance problems too with SF.

BF2 vanilla gives me an average 50fps and never below 35. I get average 35 and as low as 15 with the expansion.

                Here is my config:

                Athlon64 3000+ at 2.6ghz
                2GB of ram
                X800XL 256mb
                etc.

                Dunno what's going on.

                  Re: Performance Problems with SF....

I played BF2 right before installing SF... 1280x1024, everything High, 4xAA 8xAF (driver controlled)... FRAPs flips back and forth between 80-81fps, no matter what I'm doing or how heavy the action.

I installed SF, and then the 1.12 patch, go to play..... wait about 10 minutes for it to re-do the graphics crap, and then log in..... to 1-3fps, 10fps if I've got my face buried in a wall.

                  WTF?

First person to tell me it's my hardware gets the trout.

                  Specs:
                  ASUS P5ND2-SLI Deluxe
                  Intel P4 3.2E 775
                  2x eVGA 7800GT 256
                  2gb Corsair 5300 667mhz 240-pin
                  SB Audigy X-FI Plat.

                  WinXP Pro, SP2
                  DirectX 9.0c
                  nVidia Ref 81.85

Yeah, I know my drivers are out of date, but unless they re-coded the BF2 engine, that shouldn't matter crap installing an expansion pack... at least, not as severe a hit as I got. I turned everything back to app controlled, no AA, No AF, and it didn't change jack.

I'm not about to turn my settings down.

                    Re: Performance Problems with SF....

SF has issues no matter what Dice or EA say. Look at my specifications below; I have NO issues with BF2 at high settings. Compare this to SF, and its night and day. Now add the night vision, and we have a serious resourse hog of a graphics engine indeed . I never go below 50-80 in BF2 (1280x1024 / 4X AA / 8x AF). SF on the other hand, I've seen it dip into the 30's (without night vision), and usually hangs in the 40's - 30's with night vision. On top of that I don't even like SF!!. Anyway, I'm going to stick with BF2 and maybe try SF again when Dice patches this problem (again).

Iron Gator....ouch...my eyes hurt. Literally, the lag while in the carrier makes my eyes hurt. I'm even going to recommend that our clan removes it from rotation.

i just tried levithan. its impossible to play. the fps is always below 20. there has to be something wrong with the game. because i can run all of the other maps with a good fps. and in bf2 i could run at the same settings with a fps of at least 55.

i get slow down too inside big buildings and inside the carrier...i can understand it will take more to process the inside of a carrier but it shouldn't drop the performance as much as it does.

i think it must be a game issue as if anyone who played battlefield Vietnam remebers the map cambodian incursion (i think) which ahd a temple type building.....in one of the patches they messed it up so then when you entered it your frames per second droped by about 90%.....they fixed it in the next patch.
