    Re: Flying Lesson Needed

    Question:

I had previously been flying helos with M&K and I really like it. I run my sensitivities way up (10) and everything is great. That being said, I wanted to try my joystick so I started using it (inverted controls) and my Z axis is inverted as well. It's so opposite to what I would expect, and what other flight sim games do. When I twist clockwise to rotate right, it rotates left...

Any way to fix this? I want to be able to twist right and rotate right.

    Thanks

Well, while we're on the subject of helicopters and related items, would someone give some instructions on how to use TV guided missiles? I thought I understood them (point and click), but just the other day I saw some sort of white targeting bracket around an enemy chopper. Anyone know what that is or what it means?

Oh man. If that's true, I'm going to feel like an idiot...
Good thing there's a differance between feeling like an idiot and being and idiot, eh?

        NEXT LESSON: Sideways movement

Not enought people seem to know how to move their choppers in any direction other than forward. Being able to side slip is one of the most powerful tactical manouvers you can pull with a chopper.

In a transport (especially the BH), it's completely critical. In an attack chopper it's still hella handy to be able to pop out from behind cover.

All you need to do is practice that hovering and get comfortable with tilting to get momentum. You still have to keep carful control over your power to maintain your altitude and flying without being able to see where you're going is tough. If you can lock down the skill tho, you can do some beautiful things!

Tip: It's not point and click. It's point and click and click and click and click.

Just keep clicking! The missile homes on the last place you clicked, so if you keep clicking, you can make mid-air adjustments. This is how those crazy long range air-to-air TV missile hits are pulled off.

'Nother tip: If you're aiming for an air target, make sure you lead it by a whole bunch. The hit box is actually forward of the model. If you hit dead on the tail of a chopper with forward momentum, your shot will pass clean through.
