RPG-7 RL info

Decided to see how much I dont know(basically everything)) about the RPG-7 and went to this link:

very interesting ammunition to choose between...

Different ammo types in BF2 and BF2:SF would have been awesome! FMJs, armour piercing etc... really really cool too if you could choose between the rpg-7 rockets aswell:rock:

edit: PG-7VLs armour penetration capability: 500mm!!! oh.my. (thats like 20 INCHES!)

That 500mm Armor Pentration is Rolled Steel only. (Like old WW2 Tanks and the M-49 and M-60 used)

Yeah, I find 50cm impressive for such a cheap weapon.
what kind of damage do they do on modern tanks? With the special ammo and all...?

Hmm on the latest M1 it would hurt it if you hit it on the engine, hit it on the front on not much will happen.

Yeah I would imagine so. Did the Iraqis have the 'special' ammunition, i.e. any of the armour piercing, and not only the HE ones?

The M1A2s disabled (Not Destroyed) took repeated hits in the Engine Plate in Iraq by what I'm guessing would be standard HEAT rounds. It's just nearly impossible to break through the front armor of the Abrams with Infantry based Anti-Tank Weaponery, that's why most modern AT weapons have the missile zoom over the top of the tank turrent (The weakest Armor in the whole Tank) and explode downward, either ripping through the thin armor and killing the crew or by crushing them inside.

Those were Kornets. Rumor is they were put in the hands of the Iraqis to see how the weapon fared. Russian AT teams, of course, could knock out M1A1's from 2000m with this weapon but the Iraqis only had a few of them.

A Challenger 2 took 11-12 RPG rounds in operation Tellic and came through with minor problems.

Where can I get info on the effects of these things? Pictures of failed armour and stuff?

Also, if Iraq didnt have have any armour penetrating rockets/whatever could they have bought it somewhere or thats just out of the question...(gun dealers only selling AKs and small arms?)?
