I agree. I'd say most of the time people who are "stealing" your vehicle are NOT doing it with malicious intent. Most of the time I'd say it's an honest mistake. They're trying to kill the enemy and stay alive as best as they can.
I think it's a bit self-centered and immature to assume everyone is out to get you and therefore you should teach them a "lesson" by TKing.
Most people, after hearing your displeasure for their actions, will not do it again, or at least be more conscientious of it in the furture. TKing just makes things worse IMO...

      Re: Repair thief

I hate people that steal vehicles as well. for me I like grabbing a humvee or something simular and driving to a great spot to stop, jump on the mounted machine gun and defend an area. there is always some person that will run up, jump in and drive my vehicle away. Course I understand they have no idea that I want to stay put to use the gun so I really can't get mad at them, but I do get mad.

        That's an interesting strategy..

I will admit, seeing you speed off from the base by yourself while i'm asking for a ride would be a little frustrating, but I'd get over it. It's just a game. :)

I don't blame you, its annoying. Then again, look at 90% of the players in bf2...it doesn't surprise me really
I really disagree. I've seen plenty of players pass up an oppritunity to steal my vehicle while I'm repairing. Infact, not once can I recall getting my vehicle stolen in all my time playing bf2. Infact (I've told this story before) once I was in a tank, got out to revive someone, got killed, and watched as my gunner took over. When I respawned my gunner actually GOT OUT of the drivers seat and back into the gunner position. I can't say I'm even that generous.

THAT is my # one gripe in this game. people that grab a vehicle and leave solo while team mates continue to ask for a ride and the only responce you get is dust in the face and a heartly "no way man!"

            bastards every one of them.

              Re: Repair thief

Biggest pet peeve above that one: Say you are parked in your Vodnik, in the gunner seat, looking for movement or guarding a cp/whatever and someone jumps in and rides off/moves your vehicle.
I am a pretty calm guy, but for some reason when someone does that and I end up getting killed because of it, my blood pressure rises at least 30 points.

I do that on a daily basis. I love to pilot, but I also like to be the gunner if there is a BETTER pilot than me. when I find a great pilot, i'll try to team up with them the entire match. I'll go as far as camp for the chopper and grab it, then when I see the pilot, tell him to jump in and I switch to gunner. I have no problem with taking back seat when the pilot is better than me. a good team is so hard to find sometimes that when i do find one i'll do anything to keep it going.

                  Re: Repair thief

or how about when you have a vehicle camped somewhere to defend, you switch to the gunner position to defend and some putz jumps in the drivers seat takes off with the vehicle and quickly bails out at the air strip...because they just wanted a ride to the jets or choppers, and decided dragging you along was ok. I have had people do this when all they had to do is sprint 500 yards to the damn plane. bastiges each and every one of 'em.

You DO realize that when you jump in a tank it displays the vehicles "health", so that logic is busted.

Too bad that by the time they jump in the tank, their mind is already on something else. It's not that big of a deal.

i'm probrably going to get flamed for saying this but whenever someone steals "my" vehicle i usualy go up and put a mine in front and behind them

then when i go back to the spawn and there there and they get the vehicle i kill them again.

what i'm saying here is I really HATE repair thiefs, even more than plane whores and most anything else( besides tking to get a vehicle)

                          so don't steal my wheels
                          They are stupid.

I had that happen once and it ****ed me off so much. I was kicking ass, the USMC abandoned their tank while i was in the T-90. So i stole it, repaired it and used it against them. Went through 2 full loads of rounds. Was 35-0, had not died at all. Just kicking ass wherever i went.

Mainly protecting our back flags while our spawnable tank was attacking at the front.

I took some damage and some idiot got in while i was repairing. I got in and kept yelling "Bail Out" finally he did, said sorry and moved on. But the reason he got out? There was an APC and 3 anti-tank players, and he was afraid. By the time he gave it back, i was screwed.

People who do stupid **** like that need banned from the server. The general rule among good players, is it's ok to get in the driver's seat when they are repairing (to provide heavy cover fire) but to get out when it's fully repaired. Has been for a long time. Kind of like a gentleman's agreement.

But some of these CS kiddies don't understand how to use vehicles. They will use a tank as transport only. Abandon it and go on foot.

YES! My biggest pet peeve in BF2! The worst is when there's a Blackhawk flying over, and you're blasting it with the Vodnik's gun when some guy gets in and floors it. ARGH!!! STOP AND LET ME SHOOT IT DOWN!!

I had some guy steal my tank I was repairing

I told him to get out

                              I told him again

                              and again
                              and again

I just gave up, threw mines down in front and back of himand watched him not move........

                              "What are you doing moron!"

"you stole my tank, I was fixing it"

He then just moved slightly and blew up, joind my squad and asked me "why did you blow me up?"

I told him again that he stole my tank

and he retorted that he didn't see my name on it and hate when people think they own things in this game, called me an ******* and left.

First of all it was Zatar Wetlands and I drove that tank a long way to get it to the front, second of all I knew he saw me repairing it

I don't get out my vehicle unless there is no one around me and if anyone even comes close i get straight back in to it again, whether it is repaired or not.
