      Re: Belly Sliding

In my defence, I actually wasn't a big fan of the previous BF games, so this really was a new thing for me.

I've been having fun since finding it out. I'll actually look for places on maps where I can get a good belly slide going. Hehe, even started thinking about doing a snow map with some good low friction runs. Hmmm... snow map...

        Re: Belly Sliding

Does not work nearly as good as in 1942 - used to be like you hopped on a slip and slide when you went prone on a hill. You could go down the side of a cliff in a slide if you did it right.

I have not found it to be useful in bf2 though - does not work nearly as consistenly.

              Re: Belly Sliding

I love sliding down slopes, it's sort of a hobby I persue when I'm well out of the action and have nothing better to do. (e.g. I've just bailed in the middle of nowhere because my chopper pilot fell asleep or was drunk or something...)

I'm slowly working out which absurd slopes I can navigate down without dying, and which ones kill me even when belly-sliding. It's a lot of fun, and an amazing rush when you cane it down a mountain and survive!

Obviously I don't go out of my way to do this, I do normally actually play the game and try to help my team. :P

FuShe Pass is the absolute best map for this! Next time you're playing on that and you notice some prat come flying down and land on his face, it's probably me.

                running backward does it also.

Nope, sorry. Never played Tribes or got anywhere near the boards. Looks like a fun games though...

                        Re: Belly Sliding

Ah, yes, I love this little gimick. Pretty realistic, too, actually.

The best is when I'm in my favorite sniping position, a little cup shape that sticks out from a hill in Shongua (sp? haven't played in a couple weeks. Bad RAM) and I duck under the guard rail, and slide on down into the cup on my belly. Then another guy from the other team decides to come down into the same little area, but he jumps the guard rail, and tries to run down the hill. It never works.

I've had several guys spot me from above, think they have an easy knife kill so they try to scurry down to my position, and then go dashing past me down the hill and fall to their doom.

yep. very old news. It's something most people learned the first time they played Bf1942.
