I discovered something by fluke the other night. I've been stewing on whether or not I should share... but since I'm just that kinda guy, here we go!
You know those hills that you can run down, but always take a little damage in the process? Like the ones between the USMC prime spawn and the rest of the map on Kark?
Well, it turns out that there's a good reliable way to get down most of 'em without taking ouches from it. All you need to do is go prone on your way down. It seems that the way BF2 works, your friction when you are prone increases some (this is why you can crawl up slopes that are too steep to walk up). If the slope you are on would normally cause you to slide while walking/running, there's a good chance that going prone will slow you down enough so you don't *splat* at the bottom. You still slide and barely lose any speed, so there's no drawbacks.
Hehe, it also looks kinda cool.
Yer welcome.
