Not hats false. Please dont spread lies. Thr 81.82+ series drivers are best for BF2. 77.xx gives you a nearly 25% drop in performance.

It can also vary by system..but there is NO hard and fast rule as to which driver version is best for a particular card.

I recommend people try a driver and benchmark it.

You can always roll back if you don't like the changes. Nothing is permanent.

I can't install them drivers

I uninstalled 78.01, run Driver Cleaner and then tried to install. The install file unpacked all the files, but when it moved to install I got an error message saying that "there is no device installed supported by these drivers" or sth - I am at work now, so can't check.

Has any of you experienced such a thing??

yeah, I get that when I try to install pc desktop drivers on my laptop.

The latest drivers only support certain chipsets, you can either modify the inffile (NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU KNOW F*** ALL ABOUT IT)

Or you can just go to Guru3d and download a premodified version and check the supported chipsets for them.

I have a 6800GT, best drivers I used and still use are the 78.11's

kinda off topic but, is there a big performance increase between the regualar 7800GTX 256 version and 512 version because they are both 256 bit, and the only thing I could think of is maybe higher clock speeds, correct me if i'm wrong. I want to know because I just ordered my GTX 256 version and I could cancel and wait if it's a big differnce

Hmmmff back to my 78.05 drivers. Every 81.xx series messes up my monitor screen size. When I enter driver options it sizes the screen (not res) to 0 for horizontal or and sometimes vertical.

Pirate. 78.11 drivers. Did you type that wrong? Last 78.XX series I know of is 78.05. There is a 78.01 driver.

yes there is a very big diference, the clock speeds are put higher and a lot higher, memory is unseen high!!
architecture is slightly diferent of the 512 version.
just use google and search for some reviews man
