Re: Engineer Badge: A Challenge

I got mine through normal gameplay - post 1.03 patch, just after it as a matter of fact when the spec ops were c4 happy with assets. I spent every round with only my wrench out. I finally got it on Operation Clean Sweep. A squad kept coming in and blowing up the US assets. Once I repaired them, I would take a boat over to the main battle area and got in a buggy and drove around repairing every tank or vehicle I saw. As soon as I hear the assets were blown I would jump on a grenade or get myself killed and spawn back to repair them.
I did zero fighting - only repairs and I got it by the skin of my teeth. It was a 64 player map with 32 player limit. Most of the round was spent with about 20 players on it and the tickets never got more than 20 pts between them - damn good round. It was pretty much luck IMHO.
Now once I got it, I decided to test these cheaper tactics to see how fast it really could be done....turns out not that fast. I did find that even if you use the cheaper tactics and start repairing within just a minute or two of the round starting - it is not always possible to get all 25 before the round ends. I have found that if you repair constantly with one of the cheaper methods - you can get the 25 pts in about 30 minutes from the minute you start to repair. You get repair pts quickly to start, then they average a little over a minute a piece to get after that. Meanwhile, don't forget that this whole time you are a sitting duck just waiting for enemy air strikes to come down on you, or jets, or helos, etc.
Even with this cheaper method - it is still too hard to justify compared to the others.
My recommendation is to find the high tickets with low player counts - and just use your wrench. It can be done, it is not that fun of a gameplay style IMHO, but it can be done. You also need a little luck with regards to the teams so that the ticket counts stay pretty even the whole time.
