    Re: Engineer Badge: A Challenge

    Expert -

I got mine through normal gameplay - post 1.03 patch, just after it as a matter of fact when the spec ops were c4 happy with assets. I spent every round with only my wrench out. I finally got it on Operation Clean Sweep. A squad kept coming in and blowing up the US assets. Once I repaired them, I would take a boat over to the main battle area and got in a buggy and drove around repairing every tank or vehicle I saw. As soon as I hear the assets were blown I would jump on a grenade or get myself killed and spawn back to repair them.

I did zero fighting - only repairs and I got it by the skin of my teeth. It was a 64 player map with 32 player limit. Most of the round was spent with about 20 players on it and the tickets never got more than 20 pts between them - damn good round. It was pretty much luck IMHO.

Now once I got it, I decided to test these cheaper tactics to see how fast it really could be done....turns out not that fast. I did find that even if you use the cheaper tactics and start repairing within just a minute or two of the round starting - it is not always possible to get all 25 before the round ends. I have found that if you repair constantly with one of the cheaper methods - you can get the 25 pts in about 30 minutes from the minute you start to repair. You get repair pts quickly to start, then they average a little over a minute a piece to get after that. Meanwhile, don't forget that this whole time you are a sitting duck just waiting for enemy air strikes to come down on you, or jets, or helos, etc.

Even with this cheaper method - it is still too hard to justify compared to the others.

My recommendation is to find the high tickets with low player counts - and just use your wrench. It can be done, it is not that fun of a gameplay style IMHO, but it can be done. You also need a little luck with regards to the teams so that the ticket counts stay pretty even the whole time.

      Re: Engineer Badge: A Challenge

Engy badges are the hardest because you have to rely on others to damage your stuff then fight other engy's for the point and the Commander supply crates.

Medics & support just throw bags around.

So I agree, it's interesting to me that the topic is not to pad or glitch and to earn it normally yet the answer is to find a unique map scenario to take advantage of [exploit ?]

This map playing 64 but with x tickets and only a 16 slot server...etc..

Which is the general 'trick' for most badges.

I got my vet Medic badge 2 days ago on .....(anyone? , anyone?)...............Kharkand on the FIRST TRY but spent hours upon hours getting 10 measly repair points in a round for Vet repair [had 45 hours as engy when I finally got it] .

Personally, I'm not gonna lose sleep over how anyone gets this badge, I'll get it without stat padding but it will be by taking advantage of a map, not necessarilly skill.

The badge is random luck with a little intent plain and simple.

      IMO /

I recevied the vet. badge without stat padding. I was on a server where the opfor special forces kept blowing up the commander assets. I kept repairing them. I then repaired any armor that I could find. I was really surprised when I received it. It was not my goal to get the badge.

I know, but me and a mate (hes the medic in seat 2) fly round in the cobra, but were constantly landing for repairs, during this time he runs of to revive team mates and i go pick him up when im done, or he respawns with me in the Cobra.
When we are capturing cp's he gets out and unloads his medic packs all over the spawn.

I have got 15 repair points, that was on a round with like 15 players and spec ops kept blowing up my assests and as i was the commander i just went around repairing them with my spanner rather than supply crates as to get the points.

ok all the veteran badges are easy, to be honest. but expert first aid and expert engineer are hard. (yes expert first aid is too, if u dont believe it, give it a try and get 25 healing pts IAR).

Got mine on Kubra Dam as a MEC, followed around armor, and repaired our assets (they were perpetual targets), never even pulled out a gun. There were about 20 people on a 64 map, and it took the whole game to get it (literally got the badge minutes before the round ended). I personally don't see any conceivable way I will get the expert, but stat padding or not it is achievable (at least some people have it)

You spent half the game repairing repairing your own assets with the commander screen down? I'm sure your troops appreciated that.

I've got expert engineer. I got it on Sharqi Peninsula on the 64 player version with about 6 people on each team. I was playing on the US team and the MEC team had a special ops that was constantly destroying our UAV, Scan and artillery. I was also driving around in a tank with another person for a large portion of the round so I got a few extra repairs from that. I'm not sure how long the round took to finish (it was damn long) but I only got the badge in the final 10 tickets. Damn I was happy.

I could have sworn I was repairing a blackhawk, that I was in, all round long and still didn't even get the Veteran engineer badge.
