Tip to take jet/chopper down with jet.

Dogfighting isn't so easy but lately I take lots of guys dozn, I'm not the best pilot, rather medium but I start to learn.

When you spot an enemy jet, try to get in his tail but as said before use the bomb view, so his misile alarm doesn't go off.

Then switch to misile view, and here is the timing part, it takes a bit before you get a lock on, well a bit practicing gave me the feeling how long it will take for a lock on, the moment you need to shoot those misiles is like just before the lock on, the enemy pilot won't react very hard before he hears the big alarm, once he hears it, your misile is like 1m way from him.

Same story for choppers

The missiles will not follow him unless you got the lock before the missiles were fired. If missiles are fired without a lock, they will either dumbfire (go in a straight line until they hit something), or curve upwards at a sharp angle and basically do nothing.

This only really works if their plane is right in front of you, and the dumbfire of the missiles happens to collide with them, =P

Well, that's what the guy said. You have to be following the jet with bomb view on, get in close, and fire your missiles from around 10-20 m without a lock on and watch them lock on automatically lock on and kill the jet. I do this ALL the time. Works wonders; it's foolproof unless the enemy jet is skilled and knows how and when to check his 6.

As soon as missiles are fired they go look for a heat source.

Don't waste the missiles, stick some rounds of canon ammo into his engine(s), job done.

Yeah i would personnaly say take him down with the gun, doesn't normally work i end up taking half the plane out with the gun and then hit it with a missile.

I agree...use the cannon in bomb mode to take as much health off as possible and only fire 1 missile...and even then ONLY when you know it's a good shot.

By the time the enemy pilot sees his life being slowly depleted to a quarter, he will jump out. Trust me, if you want a pilot dead, the way the threadstarter/me said will work 95% of the time. He won't even expect it, or have time to escape.

if you shoot the misiles before lock on, not to soon, but the moment you know when the misile is going close to him is equal to the lock on, they will folow and they almost never miss

Dog fighting sucks anyways...EA should just have made the Missles go the way they did in DC.

I usually get all my kills in the jet vs. air with my cannon. It works great, but this strategy for the missles does work, because I use it to some extent.

I'm not too sure you're correct on this. My experience also shows that the missiles will aquire the lock when the jet does. Naturally you'll want to be all up in his ass anyway.

Only problem I can see is that you'd have to be pretty far away from a chopper, jets travel so much faster... normally before you have time to think you would have flown past. Plus the fact that any chopper pilot that doesn't take instant action as soon as they see the cross is a fool, with the fast reload time of chaff... doesn't take much to dodge + chaff, take cover and wait to see what happens. I normally die from bullets more than rockets.

Or you can be a man and use the guns, which rock every plane and don't home in on friendlies.

If you get on the tails of an unsuspecting jet just burst your canon right up his ass, or tailpipe to be precise, thats one of the weakspots.

If he sees you are your trying to kill him when turning, still shoot his tail pipe, the jet has pretty good armor too, the only two weakspots are the cockpit and the tailpipe.
