Re: Commander mode should have never been developed.

You desire such a tactical game by removing the Commanders abilities. But then you state that giving Spec Ops points for blowing them up promotes indviduals to ignore the "Teamwork" factor that was never there to begin with? That my friend is an Oxymoron, a self-contradicting statement. If you desire a more tactical game, you have to be willing to invest a squad to supress the enemy Commander and his Gear so that he can't rain "No Skill" death on your head.

Your point isn't so much about the skill it takes to be Commander but how your unwilling to destroy the Commanders Gear and stay there to keep them destroyed to have your "Magically Tactical" game. In real life, if you ever had such a situation as a stalemated gun fight, your Squad Leaders you seem to worship would be calling in everything under the sun : Mortars, Artillery, Naval Support, Air Strikes, Armor etc. The problem is for me as a person who likes to Command, is that Squads seem to demand my support, but neither request it on my TAC Map or say thank you when I give it to them. If you don't request anything nor follow my orders that I give out. (Reguardless of current "Context" since my Orders are general in how I want you to proceed.) I will operate as this "Super Soldier" as you state, not because that's how DICE made it, but because the Team refuses to Talk/Request/Update me on what's going on and yet I'm still "supposed" to render my abilities as a Commander to you, then take your guff when I do something wrong that you never asked for in the first place?

Excuse me man, but get off your high horse and help your Commander, SO HE CAN BE ONE!

Teamwork? What's the teamwork involved in walking to the enemy main and C4'ing some assets? That's right, there isn't any. 95% of the time, you'll find an unguarded main and just waltz right in there solo. Giving people more of an incentive to go in there will only pull people away from the main for the easy points and encourage main camping, as once the assets are blown up, the spec ops will get bored. If you give points for ANYTHING, people will do it for the wrong reasons, and that's why I say they shouldn't have gotten bonus points in the first place. They're saving their team multiple tickets from the over-powered commander assets by blowing them up, that should be enough.

I've gone into a main plenty of times to blow things up, it's simply too easy to both blow them up and to repair them. The blowing up of these assets isn't the problem, it's the fact they exist at all and the nature of how they work. And I hope I never get you as a commander, as any commander who will ignore squads in need just because they don't use features or can't do something shouldn't be fit for the job. Sorry, but that's the way I see it. They're not puppets, they're your team. But, while we're at your commanding, how easy do you find it to use the commander assets? Since that's the debate in this thread, and you seem to be an outspoken commander, what are YOUR thoughts on these assets, why do you seem to find them not too powerful? Ignore all other factors around them like the spec ops blowing them up, etc. Just focus on the assets and the way they operate.

Get my commander out of a vehicle, make him stop spamming my chat, take his overpowered tools and super-ego away, and I'll help my commander.

Re: Commander mode should have never been developed.

Jesse man, ya need ta calm down a bit chummer.

As someone who enjoys command, I can see where SilverHawk is coming from. I've had some extream frustrations with crappy SLs, just as I've had frustrations with crappy commanders. There's nothing quite as annoying as seeing the SL of the largest squad in the round camping the enemy's un-cappable base while your side hasn't taken any flags and the enemy isn't even spawning there!

As to the command assets, still I stand by the main point that this is a game. Both sides have the same access to those assets and thus you can't really call them "over powered".

The UAV is mearly a substitue for all the intel resources that an actual commander has at his dissposal. Same goes for the Scan.

The Artillery isn't all that unrealistic. As pointed out, in a real battlefield situation there would be more hell coming down on the enemy than just a few howazer rounds. The fact that it was made into a point and click interface is because real players can't be bothered to man artillery in ANY game I've seen it as an option. Realisticly, you'd have an entire team that would be manning those guns and firing on any position the commander dictates. These days, it really is becoming more and more like a point and click interface.

The commander's spotting interface likewise isn't all that off of what's becoming a reality. Watch Blackhawk Down. See the commander looking at sat images of the battle and yammering away at the grunts? That was how long ago?

        As for
What's the teamwork involved in walking to the enemy main and C4'ing some assets? That's right, there isn't any.
You don't have to be right next to someone in order to support the team. Keeping those assets out of order is a big deal. A good commander will support that Spec Opps guy by dropping supply and spotting nearby threats.

All in all, these functions are just part of the game. They help define what the game IS. I enjoy them. If they aren't to your liking there are mods out there and other games, for that matter.

Do what is fun. Burning time on this subject is just a waste.
