    X-Fi Sound Card

Wow, I just bought one of the Sound Blaster X-Fi Cards a couple days ago and they're awesome. Before, I used to use headphones that had a built-in sound card and with a 3500+ and 6800 GT, I had to keep my AA and AS settings to 2x and low and my other's mixed between high and medium. That thing really does free up a lot of resources and on top of the awesome sound, the game flies! I can play with everything on max now, not to mention ultra quality sound. And this is the Xtreme Music version that doesn't have the 64MB onboard RAM.

I didn't realize a sound card helped that much. On the box it says it speeds things up to 17% and damn, it's true! I've no idea how other sound cards are such as the Audigy, but I love this one. So for those that can't figure out why the game runs so crappy, get a sound card if you don't already have one!

I thought people had Lag issues with the X-FI series. I may wait till christmas to buy one.

Remember folks...folks who are going from on-board sound to an X-Fi card will notice this kind of improvement.

Those of us already running an Audigy or Audigy 2 will likely not see much of a performance increased. Maybe even a decrease if we crank the settings up to 'Ultra-High'

                  I can't believe they don't have a cheaper X-Ram version

I'd love to get an Xtreme Music, but then I'm afraid that future games will really take advantage of X-Ram.

If they'd make an X-Ram version without the drive bay for a decent price, I'd certainly buy one.

Same here. I want the X-RAM without the remote control and all those other gadgets I wouldn't use.

I have my computer set up as a home entertainment center, but I have a force feedback chair to sit in which means I can't be far away to take advantage of the remote anyways, heh. Plus everything a remote can do, my hotkeys on my computer can do as well.

Luckily I have a couple friends with outdated components so if/when a cheaper X-RAM card comes out or the prices drop for the other ones, I'll sell my current one and pick up the other.

But dang, just the normal card without the X-RAM is awesome.

I suppose you're right..I could buy an Xtreme Music now and put it in my other machine if/when an OEM X-RAM version comes out.

WEL WTF!!!!!!!!!. Ever since i bought my Extream Music, my game has crashed to desktop, Restarted randomly because of stupid error. The first time i installed it, i couldnt get to the X-Fi music settings with out my game crashing. What was the order that u guys installed your sound card like game then sound card or sound card then game? How much ram u guys got? I have called Creative and they said try the differnt PCI slots.

GOD dam, all this just because i want the ultra high sound again.

P4 2.8, 1 gig of ram, RADEON 9800 Pro, 350 watt power supply, X-Fi Extream Music.
                            Any sugestions?
