    Tactical Gamers last night.

Just wondering who played online last night on the Tactical Gamers server 1. First time i played and thought it was fantastic. Most of us were on a mike, commander listened to orders, squad leader was good. It was more aless perfect.

When my quad leader left I went leader and if I needed extra backup, more from team I spoke to the commander and he got another squad to come. It was absolutely fantastic.

I just wish all servers were like that.

by the way, I was Brook_2005 on squad 1 (helicopters).

Yeah I've had moments like this, sometimes you really miss a good squad. Doesn't compare with the irl friends you got now either, it's always a nice surprise to find some cool strangers.

I didn't get there until very late and couldn't use the mic much as the wife was sleeping.

Glad you enjoyed it though! I hope it'll happen every week from now on...

Oh it's always up and running, but it'll be empty until about middnight GMT as it's based in the USA.
Last night was special as European players were encourged to play at *normal* hours for us :)

Was really looking forward to it, managed to play about 15 mins before my pizza was delivered, which I prompty scoffed down and in turn passed out

Anyway, was probably the most enjoyable 15 mins of Battlefield I've played, exactly what I envisioned pre-release when reading about the VOIP and squad-based features.

Happy to hear its gonna be a regular occurance, after ptegan's 'Taffy' comment yesterday, I'm on a mission to get his Lucky Charms

I haven't played the server yet, but from what I read here it must be good so I'll give it a go when I get home...

I agree with you that on some servers it's impossible to get a nice teamplay going. People lying in front of your jet even if you were the first to get to the hangar, teammates shooting you in the back to get the jeep you're walking towards and squadmembers who only join your squad to use you as a spawnpoint once in a while...

However, on most servers people just don't realise that playing as a squad and following or giving orders usually makes for a more enjoyable end effective game. There was a topic sometime ago that read something in the lines of "Teamplay in BF2 (CHALLENGE)" and the guy who wrote it was talking about how to get people to work as a squad. The basic idea was as follows:

                            - Create a squad with (preferably) a custom name (somewhere else I've read about a guy who always names his squad TEAMPLAY)
                            - Be a good squadleader by SUGGESTING certain kits to certain squadmembers. If a certain kit is desperately needed and noone seems to want to use it, use it yourself
                            - Always revive fallen medics and do everything to keep your team healthy, happy and supplied, but without putting yourself in too much jeopardy (remember, you are their spawnpoint)
                            - Take full advantage of the standard orders at your disposal, so instead of saying "attack here" you use the "move here" option several times as waypoints to lead your squad to your intended target step by step. This serves two functions: 1-you can avoid sending your squad straight into enemy forces and 2-your squadmembers are less likely to think: no way, that's 800 yards away
                            - Apart from using the standard commands type your *ss off. Don't just give a flag-defend order but add a message to your squad to it (for example: "guard the perimeter" or "focus on north entrance please"
                            - Listen to your squad's suggestions and if they say no to an order, realise that they might just have a reason for declining and rethink your strategy. If you still think you're right, re-issue the order and type a simple "PLEASE" afterwards.
                            - Be nice. Thank your squad in CAPITAL letters for their excellent teamwork everytime you capture a difficult CP or you all team up on an enemy tank and kill him in two seconds. It is the appreciation they get that motivates them to play as a team.
                            - Get rid of useless players. If you have a squad of 6, and one or two aren't following orders at all, suggest they leave and join another squad to make room for people who do want to play as a squad
                            - Question yourself. If you issue a series of bad or even disastrous orders, suggest to your team that maybe one of them should lead. More often than not, they'll tell you you're doing fine and to keep going (so you thank them for their support and keep going). If they agree that you're not leading them properly, step down and let someone else be in command.

Following these simple rules I usually manage to get a decent play on almost any server, and it has made my BF2 experience a whole lot more enjoyable...

If you've gotten this far, I hope these pointers help and I especially hope you will put them to good use...

                            Cheers...
