    Re: Tactical Gamers last night.

It would be great if people would start populating the TG server as they are often empty during times when most europeans would play [its a US based server]... but lets make sure we all adhere to the rules set out on the Tactical Gamer website, otherwise its gonna be just another server full of non-teamplaying 5 year olds.

I've been drinking the Tactical Gamer Kool-Aide for a few weeks now. It is the mecca of teamplay in BF2. I usually play right after work, which equals to around 10 pm UK time. There are usually 6-8 guys on at that time, but please hop on. Also, download and install mappack 2 because they added those maps to their rotation.

Are you referring to the advice I wrote in the reply or the advise I give in-game through issuing commands...

If you're talking about my post; it was a reply to the topic starter. From what he wrote I got the idea that he thinks it's an unfortunate thing that there's so little real teamplay in BF2, and my reply to that discusses an effective 'tactic' I use to get some squad-based play going (at least in my own squad), thus making it an enjoyable game (again, at least in my own squad).

If it's my advice as a squad leader you mean; BF2 is a game designed around the whole commander-squad leader-squad member structure. Therefore the amount of teamwork has (in my opinion) a positive influence on both the outcome of a game and the fun you have playing it. Of course it can be great fun lonewolfing and I have gotten some great scores of 100+ without being part of a squad at all, but for those who seek teamplay and get frustrated by the lack of enthusiasm for it, those are my suggestions. They worked for me. And strange but true: people DO listen to their SL. Most of the times I issue an order, I get at least 4 "You got it"s or "Yes sir"s and they then proceed to actually do as I asked them. For those who choose not to follow the squad's strategy (like I said before), I kindly ask them to join another squad...

I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do, I'm just offering a simple piece of advice that did wonders for me. Now, I sometimes have people thank me for the great teamwork at the end of a round, and that didn't happen before.

            Re: Tactical Gamers last night.

            Hi guys,

As a regular to TG I would really like it for you guys to join the server. We started this Euro-night to get the teamplay going on non-US-primetime just to see whether someone would respond.......and they did.

Man, last night (when the server is usually empty) we where playing 21 vs 21 and I really had a great time.

So please come and check out the server next week (for another Euro-night) but I really hope the server will fill out at Eurotimes everynight. That would eliminate the need for this planning.

One thing though, as stated before, please read the SOP's and serverrules on the server. This makes the server what it is (teamplay to the max.).

A small grab from the serverrules:

UCB's are off limit to all enemy players and ammunition except SpecOps who's gonna destroy the assets (and ONLY the assets).

All TK's should be concidered accidental (unless proven the TK-er is doing this on pupose)*

Player must join a squad, the server has a mod running that forces you to join a squad in 60sec. It warns you about it but when a regular sees someone forgets they usually warn about this.

            No crackjumping (or bunnyhopping)

Commanders must command (and only that) using VOIP.

That covers a lot of it, but read all of the rules on:

            http://www.tacticalgamer.com/showthread.php?t=57177

Hope to see a lot of you teamplayminded players on the server. :salute:

Oh and SuperScythe: I think I reconise your name from being on the wrong end of your helo-missiles (am I right?).

            * Last night we had a TK-er on the carrier, C4-ing the Blackhawks, killing players on the deck. A lot of players saw this was intentionally and he was kicked after an admin was contacted on teamspeak.

Just make sure you check out the rules before you join as the admins don't usually put up with rule breakers for very long.. nothing too far out there, but things like no bunny hopping and no UCB vehicle stealing are different from the average server.

brook_uk, Glad you had fun! Join our forums and hang around.. check out some of the stuff that's going on with Server 2 if you enjoy the tactical nature of our games :)

It's really great to see all of these positive posts. I'm glad you folks enjoyed your time on the Tactical Gamer server. As some have pointed out, this doesn't need to be a once-a-week affair. We have admins available (and can always recruit more) that can work the UK prime-time shift to keep things in line. What we've lacked in the past are players that will be on the servers during these times.

What we offer is unique and not a kool-aid flavor (thanks HorrorBusiness!) that everyone enjoys. But we're here to cater to those individuals that DO want the style of game we offer.

I'd love to be on more, but between getting ready for a new baby and then HAVING the baby (last night at 1744 EDT, 6lbs 11oz) a little earlier than expected, my gaming time has been drastically altered. I'm not complaining though! :-)

                      Re: Tactical Gamers last night.

THANK YOU for posting the Ip address to this server. I have been dreaming of a server like this for quite some time. Is it my understanding that this server is usually dead during the wee hours of the night though? The earliest I can play during the week is 2-3 am. I'll check out the server none the less. I'll defenatly be there on the weekend though.

And Flipya...thanks for posting those tips.....I will try them tonight and see how it goes....They are all basic tips, but I never would have thought of them on my own. BTW, what is your Xfire nick Flipya....you sound like the kind of squad leader I have been looking for every night. I'm always willing to spawn as any kit at any spawn, and I always follow orders.

                        Re: Tactical Gamers last night.

I have a quick question about this rule:

                        2) Players are not allowed into the enemy UCB for any reason other than for the sole purpose of destroying the enemy's assets (artillery/uav/radar). Restricted acts include:
Entering the UCB with the intent on killing a disoriented spawning player.
Entering the UCB with the intent of stealing any vehicle.
Flying over the UCB for air raids / bombing runs.
Entering the UCB with the intent to lay mines / c4.

What about using Laser guided missiles from the chopper to destroy enemy assets? They work just as effective if not more effective as C4. I believe this would considred destroying Commander assets...but would the admins see it that way?

I'm not an admin there, but I believe that is acceptable. Most UCB's are kinda far off though, so you're sure to run in to more juicy targets a long the way, especially in a chopper. Saturday night I know the MEC bomber was making runs on the carrier at Oman with the laser missles and taking out the UAV.

Things do seem to kinda die down around midnight - 1 AM eastern time during the week. Really depends on the night and what maps have been played and all that.

I fought on Tactical b/c of this thread. I like it in there. The squads are tight and there's good communication/cooperation.

I have a question. None of my unlocks worked in the server. This is fine by me, but does that mean I am not making progress towards my next rank? It's only important to me b/c I have one more rank to go before I get all unlocks. After that, I wont care. Thanks.

Nope the server is unranked, so your unlocks wont work there. The reason for this is (as I heared) that EA asks a lot more money for a rankedserver. The benefit TG is having for not using the unlocks is that people dont try to crank up there score to get to the next rank and play as a team. So if getting to the next rank is important for you I would suggest not to play on the server as the points gathered there wont get you any closer to it. If however you like the type of play there your more then welcome to join, either before getting to the next rank or after.

Thanks for the reply. I do like the game play in TG a lot. Look for me in there, JohnnySpahn. I'll be giving out the first aid and keeping our squad leader alive at all costs. I'll be spotting enemy vehicles and follwing orders. This game is the greatest game ever made when played correctly.
