Your the only person that I have seen write this on the forum, and thank god it wasn't just me thinking "Does everyone think I'm a childish, immature pain in the back-side because I'm 16", Thank You.

Im actually very mature for my age and i act like the forums are like your talking to someone face to face...

Im sure these people that are flaming you [47R]Saureco have never moderated/administrated a forum or a site in there life... i have moded many forums and i cannot take all the idiots that are on the forums and i need to warn about flaming and when they continue it = ban... people need to get there act together and if they talk to people like that face to face then theyve got some real problems...

I agree with this fully... some people are very nice mature people for there age.... i think of myself as one of those people... and thank god you know what its like to be 12-18 everyone went through it here (some exceptions)...

To the "youngens", no prob. :) We were all in our teens at one point. We can recall the times we were remarkably "adult" and all the times we digressed into a tantrum.

And I still see no validation in Psycho's post. How does the quote you reference have anything to do with me being a belligerent member of this board? I was stating a fact about the correlation between internet anonymity and bad behavior. Then, I made a joke about if we took that anonymity away. WHERE THE HELL DID I BECOME THE ONE COMPLAINING? And if you read the original post, you'll see I did make a suggested fix. If you want something else, perhaps a magical sprinkle of fairy dust that makes internet a$$holes into nice, upright citizens like Psycho, then I'll get righhhhhhhhht on it.

All your points are inarguable as far as I'm concerned, but we're talking about people here. There's simply more ijots in this world than there are rational, thinking people. It's worse, of cource, when you are dealing with something that has so much cross market appeal. This forum naturally attracks some very smart people, but also some barely literate knuckle draggers and not just a few kids.

I don't agree that it's the internet that causes this problem. I am involved in many online forums for all manner of different interests but the BF2 forums have proven to be a hotbed for opinionated fools who do not respect the views of others and think only in absolutes. My scuba diving forums are far larger than BF2 forums and divers have very strong opinions about different methods and equipment. However, you rarely see any kind of flamming and people are generally constructive and nice to one another. There is moderation though and anything that resembles a flame is cracked down on. None the less it's not something the mods need to do often. If they were to crack down on this forum, it would be a full time job for a team of two. As for other game forums, I particpate on www.subsim.com forums for the game Silent Hunter 3 (Fantastic game BTW). I have yet to see a single flame anywhere on those forums and you have a real feel of community there. everyone talks and works together to make the game better and it works.

I personally think it's something to do with this particular game. I don't know what it is but there's always been something that's made me feel uneasy with the BF games I've played. A year and a half ago I was playing CoD fairly regularly and participating in CoD forums. Sure, there was some flamming and moronic attitudes present but generally it wasn't too bad (although that's only comparing it BF forums, at the time I thought the CoD forums were terrible). Then I picked up a copy of BFV and thought I'd stop by some forums to see if they could help me with some issues I was having with the game. Wow, the change was incredible! 10X worse than any CoD forum I had seen. This has carried onto BF2 and been amplified by the homogenious nature of the BF2 ranked system. Everything HAS to be the same for everyone so people, who really believe that the devs are reading each and every idea and suggestion, feel they have to attack and discredit it as much as possible because maybe "they'll listen" and the suggestion will become reality and they won't like it. This is why the mods will improve things somewhat, with mods things don't have to be the same for everyone and that kind of diversity is always good.

Anyway, I'm going to follow the advice given and avoid posting in threads made by or mostly made up of turdstains.

Before I begin this lecture, let me preclude it with a small disclaimer:

I have been known to fuel flames, feed trolls, and fail to refrain from lighting up some ignorant mofo. I apologize for that. I am not a saint, I am human, and I make mistakes. That said, I will continue.


We are in a forum. A forum is, by definition, a place where people get together to exchange ideas and converse over topics of interest. This forum has thankfully been organized into rooms where specific topics within certain categories can be discussed. Bugs, gameplay, recruiting, and off-topic babble are some of such categories. And with such organization comes administration. The hosts of this site and forum have willingly taken time out of their lives to provide us with a resource to discuss all things BF2. We owe it to them to follow their rules and obey a certain amount of etiquette.

So why the #$%& are so many smacktards running rampant?

We could blame the admin, but that's not fair as only so many people can watch so many boards and read through X number of threads at any given time. The smacktard-to-admin ratio is just too high.

We could blame the mature members of the community. Please note that I make no reference to age, as even young members can exhibit maturity while even adults can digress into childish rants and namecalling. But we all know that the mature members can only restrain themselves for so long, and the desire to participate and respond to a potentially enriching thread is all too intriguing. We inevitably get sucked in.

So who is left?

The smacktards themselves. It is a small group of members. All it takes to join a forum is to click the "register" button, give an email address (even a free, make-it-in-a-second address), and then respond to activate your new account. After today's barrage of idiocy, logic would indicate that some smacktards have created more email accounts to simply annoy us with increased proficiency.

But why? Why bother? Why annoy people? There is nothing to gain from it. The only reponses you are getting are in written form. We all know you want to be yelled at. We know you want to see the looks on our faces and hear the distress in our voices. But you're selling yourselves short by doing it here. And you're only going to a dubbed-down version of antagonization because you're anonymous here. You know if you tried this in public, where people see the real you, the physical you, that they can lock onto the aggressor, see him, and then alter his physical appearance with a few blows from an enraged fist. Here, you're just another made up account to start threads to disperse crap, scalding comments, and just be an ass. All that trouble to still result to not much.

That's sad. What a pathetic existence. You exist to disrupt. There is no vindication. There is no redemption. There is no justification for your being. You simply participate to disrupt progress. You are the kid the teacher tries to correct, but you take the reprimands as badly needed attention and an opportunity to show your peers you're "cool". You are the young adult who should be off to a good start in life, but you're always coming up short since you just can't seem to connect with people in a proper manner. You are the lost adult who should have found his path in life, but you woke up to the reality that you wasted the first half of life being a **** and are now spending the second half trying to fix it and clean it up.

And now you've come here. You have come to a place where people are trying to make their gaming experience better by trying to teach the new players, report bugs and technical problems, and just try to get to know the community better. But instead of participating in a constructive manner, you have pulled it down. Instead of us taking steps forward and out, you are pulling us back into the caves. You shame us. You embarass us. You don't make us realize that humanity has its idiots, but you make us realize that we haven't done much to correct it. We're not really sad with ourselves. We're just sad that you haven't "gotten it" yet. You haven't acclimated to the world. You don't know how to interact in a way that makes us want to interact more with you. You are stuck around the same ignorant people that they talk about in standup comedy and political discussions. Get away from them, fix your problems, and then come join us.

We'll be here for you. Until then, please don't hit the "New Thread" or "Post Reply" buttons.

One thing that annoys me about this forum is the overzealousness of the moderators...I was just reading a thread that I found interesting and wanted to post until I noticed that the mod had locked it, saying it was "boring"....wtf?

I'm finding myself staying away from this forum more and more because of the moderators.

I find that the moddies 'round here are definatly of the "light touch" sort. I've not seen this overzealousness of which you speak. Nor have I ever seen a thread closed with the word "boring".

It does get a bit hot in here sometimes yes I'll admit, alot of us have been busy over the last few weeks and months, things are getting pretty busy over at PoE now aswell...
Added to that real life commitments like work/school, But we do try and keep a closeish eye on things when time allows.

The most pathetic thing of all is the time and energy it took you to write your post. Guess what? Nobody cares! Get over yourself you self rightous sh*t D**k.
