Re: How high do you overclock your graphics card?

Well, now that I've got those RAM-sinks I'm up from 400/324 to 465/330... Ok, is it just me, or does this seem a little wrong somehow? I mean I was hitting 450/445 before I started installing heatsinks, and obviously the GPU cooler helped (+15 mhz with 0 artifacts) but now I can't even get the RAM up to what it was with stock cooling. In fact, it's the exact opposite of the GPU (-15mhz). Maybe I need to recheck how well my card is seated or something....

The card being seated wrong wouldn't affect your overclock.

Well, no, it'd just make the card unstable, I suppose. If I use ATITool to OC it, and then run the test render, I get horrible artifacting in the test render at 345. Enough to make any game practically unplayable, and most certainly ugly. I OC it with Rad-Clocker, and I don't see any artifacting at all in games like BF2 or anything else. In fact, I can hit about 350 with no trouble, either.

I just checked my Sapphire 9800 pro 256mb's clock and it was running at 378/324. Does anyone know why it would be underclocked compared to the OP's card? I'm still on stock cooling and I'm afraid to touch my vid card let alone replace the fan so I'll just up the clock a little and see what happens.

I've got both my eVGA 7800 GT's @ 520/1200... temps' are stable under load @ 45c-47c. Could go higher, but don't really see the point in overly stressing them. Using two Danger Den NV78 waterblocks.

                    Pic:

Pic was mid-install process, while I was waiting on my Silverstone SLI cert'd PSU to arrive, so the cables are ugly -- just haven't taken a recent picture... too busy having fun. CPU block is from the Zalman Reservator kit, which I promptly gutted and put in an in-line 380lph pump. :)

Fluid is green because it's Danger Dens MCT-40 non-conductive. Noticed a 3c drop across the board going from water to that fluid last year.
