In response to your last post, I actually have a roommate in my house who I met through gaming. We lived on opposite sides of the country, but finding things in common with people is how friendships start. It's kinda interesting, this new subculture of gamers. We can meet total strangers in games with nothing initially in common except the game itself. Getting to know each other over time, especially in a clan atmosphere, you get to know the inner interests of your teammates. I made a lot of friends in that clan and even made one of them one of my roomies.

So you see, the clan thing isn't always about just the game. My roommates and I hang out both in-game and outside of it. We go drinking, see movies, and just go about life based on a new breed of friendships. It's kind of interesting that we can establish a friendship with people based not on what they look like, but based on what a friendship really breaks down to--common interests.

Some groups may have required meeting times. Your best bet is to look for a gaming community to play with if you just want a regular group with similar play styles to play with. There's several out there..

I knew a Perry from PA. He was very poor and lived in a real ghetto. Not the kind for jews but a real ghetto...lol..

But really do you know any of these clans? And yes I did know a Perry.

Not to be too pimp-ish, but the one in my sig is a good place to start if enjoy teamplay; our style of play may not be for everyone. We've scrimmaged a few other communites as well, all worthy opponents, but I don't know much else about them. Some may be more clannish than others..

perry, if I recall correctly, it's clearly stated several times on the TG forums that TG is not a clan, but rather a community,

I've been in a clan for a while now, and been in a few a while back. Most of it has been said, but I'll state my opinion anyway, since this is a forum and that's what we're here to do.

Positivies

• Training - You have a group of guys you play with often. After a while, you get a feel for how they play, and they have the same for you. Very often I'll go into the clan server with another clan member, and we'll do nothing but practice. Me and 3 other clan members had hours of fun the other day just flying around in helicopters and practicing the TV guided missile (and dodging it). You become a better player, as well as one that plays better with others.
• Opportunity - Lone wolves are never invited to scrims, short of the occassional 1v1 dual match to determine who's a better noob. Being in a clan allows you to play against other clans, and see how good you guys are really are. This relates to the above positive, since you can then learn from your mistakes to become even better. Not to mention all those tournaments out there that allow you to win lots and lots of money, as well as prizes.
• Friendship - We all hate to admit it (hehe), but I'm sure that most of us in a clan consider some (if not all) of the clan members our friends. You can depend on them for a favor, or just to hang out in a random server and have fun owning noobs.
• Score - Nothing's as fun as going to a random pub server with your clan and just totally storming it. Not only is it entertaining as hell though, it can also net you lots of points. The majority of the wins creditted to my account, as well as a large majoirty of my points are from games I've played with my clan (or a clan member or two).

Negatives

• Cost - Many, but not all, clans require you to pay a monthly fee to help support the cost of the website and the server of the clan. This is usually a small amount, usually no more than $10. Of course, with the rising prices in the world, this may be something you want to consider before joining a clan.
• Requirements - Mostly regarding time. Check their practice schedule, and see how flexible it is. Does it disrupt your current schedule? Some clans are "Be here everyday at 3pm", others are "Every tuesday at 2pm is a practice", while others are just "come whenever you can, and have fun". Make sure that the clan you have in mind isn't too demanding.
• Inter-Clan Conflicts - Many times clan members will have a dispute, and it will be blown out of proportion, and involve the majority of the clan. This can be ended swiftly with good leadership, but could result in splits in the clan, or just general anger with other players. If you don't handle stress and anger well, you might want to take this into consideration.

Pro- You have people to play with and have fun with ...
Con- You have responsibilites and in some occasion you HAVE to show up for things which makes you feel weird about having to show up for meetings just for a game

If you have no idea what a Clan is, I suggest joining a community first...

These are both guys and girls dedicated to fun and teamplay.. and they both have clans affiliated with them...

Its a good place to start, to see if you think its fun having 2-3 squads on Teamspeak (or ventrillo) all coordinating attacks and such
