I have had the same problem since the first patch. I have loaded new drivers, updated PB, all that crap and I still can not play multiplayer. Locks up hard with blue screen with no message.

Im not going to bother posting specs, Ive been through it all before. EA Games has been NO help at all. Either has Punkbuster.

BF2 is simply a poorly written, rushed-out-the-door piece of crap. Before they got the first version running properly, they were working on the expansion pack. All hype. I will never buy another EA Games game (unless it looks real cool...)

You all can start flaming me now, but I wont see it because I am DONE with BF2.

well, i decided to try the latest patch to see if it would fix the problem. The first patch didn't, the second patch didn't and surprise surprise, the third patch didn't. I even emailed them and they gave me the usual "scan for spyware, viruses etc".
This is a joke, I spent £30 on this game on release date, couldn't play on Punkbuster servers because the game kept crashing (complete lockup, have to restart the computer). People here said I should wait for the first patch to fix it, that didn't. i have kept my punkbuster up to date and every single update for PB does absolutely nothing for me.

I need some comforting words

phalanx is this the crash when straight or fairly quickly after level loaded and you click on join game you get a hard freeze requiring a power off (or reset button on your box). kb everything else frozen?

i had the same problem for a month initialy (when game came out). then pb was updated and it went away like magic. note however that i still can't play bf42 with pb on (or america's army). today this problem returned for me to bf2.

i have something in common with you gigabyte k8nf-9 mobo. athlon 3500. what sound are you using?

i think there is a server side setting that causes this problem to raise it's head. i play on a group of servers hosted locally. some of them i could not join wihtout a crash. others i could. now they are all crashing.

My problem; When I join a server, the game starts to freeze for 10 seconds something like every 30 seconds. Amazingly annoying and ALWAYS happens. I haven't been able to play BF2 very much either.
