    Good points.

Especially about vehicle loadout. There are no vanilla BF armour maps, like Eastings in DC, even BF42 had maps like El Al and Tobruk (mass armour charge by the Germans at the start) How often were you on foot on Desert Shield? or El Al? (apart from when your tank got fecked )

DC had so much more variety, dedicated armour maps, dedicated Airpower maps and varied infantry battles (BE- mix of infantry and light armour, LV- blend of infantry and airpower, Bunkers- objective assault/defence)

BF2 maps seem like roughly the same theatre of combat in different places. The variety is lacking.

Although I think EA/DICE secretly wish for that so they get more money on their shallow expansions, I don't see it happening. :p (I expect mod tools patching shortly after the SF release)

Desert Combat is better. But this isn't too bad.

Yes, but it doesn't take long for someone with any experience in FPS games to quickly master a class and consistently end up at the top of the leaderboard. In a pub at least. Its not just me. It was hard. I'm just saying the game loses its playability when you're not challenged anymore.

I know leagues offer an added incentive to play, but for people like me who work 50 hours a week, are working on an MBA, and have a girlfriend, there's just no time for leagues. I only play in the mornings before work anymore.
Isn't mastering a relative thing though? I mean, if someone else puts in the hours you required to master your kit, then the amount of hours required to master a kit increases.

It is so funny. All you people do is moan and groan and complain yet hundreds of thousands of people still play. There then must be something they like? Even if god himself would create the perfect game people on forums would find something to complain about :) This generation is probably too spoiled :p Sure the game has some issues but jeez what game doesnt.

Only reason you guys say its been played out is simply because you played it too damn much. ANYTHING can get boring if you play it long enough. Take a damn break, thats what I do. I will take days off the game, Play maybe 1-3 rounds top and then take several hours off.

Take a break you will find new life in the game.

Yeah, but I still enjoy playing with my friends at least.
I play the FH mod for bf1942 more than BF2, along with Sim City4 RH.

I have pretty much had it with the poor ingame attitude of most players on public games, so i stick to TG scrims. 0 frustration, 100% fun.

Uhh! Have you played it? I was really disappointed in this - perhaps I had hopes too high for it. To me, it had little, if any, of the emotional involvement of COD, and when the end came, I hoestly thought I'd escaped out of game, and that I'd missed the finish of the stage. I much prefer BF2 single player to COD2. COD, on the other hand, is one of the greats, in my opinion.

Normally this would be the case. But with the way BF2 operates, I don't see it occurring. For one, the rankings mean NOTHING for mastering a kit. Someone could be the best with a kit, and have the worst K ratio of them all.

The learning curve is so small in the game, and after 5 minutes of conquering the learning curve, there's really nowhere else to go. Bullets that don't kill people, insanely high spreads beyond all reason, "me-first" attitudes, attack-only strategies...there's really nothing much to do beyond this in Battlefield 2 as a lot of the game is to blame for holding itself and the players back.

Personally i think bf2 is great and I havent been this hooked on a game in a long while. Well done EA (dont hear that often!). But, yes there are times when it gets repetitive. Personally the awards system is keeping me interested as working toward them gives you st to go for. I'm looking forward to BF2: SF as this'll inject new interest (and new awards). Despite all the bugs, cheats and idiots I still think the game is great. With this much wrong with playing it, it has to be good to keep me going!!!!

I think what matters is how players play the game, one could get bored simply because he's using the same strategy repetitively. But Battlefield 2 offeres hundreds of ways to play the game, and because of that, it has the potential to last its popularity for long time as long as the user keeps playing differently.

Yesterday, I would mostly play as Engineer and Support (My least 2 used classes) and I had a blast playing simply because it was change of gameplay. I loved blasting that shotgun at close ranges giving my enemy no time to fight back and I had a good feeling inside when I fired hundreds of rounds just to kill one target as opposed to assault rifles.

I usually play some BF2 about once a day, and already, I'm either first of second on the leaderboard just about every round. So, its feeling a little too easy. I see a lot of people scoring 80+ points on maps. People are figuring out how to dominate, and doing that for so long gets boring!

Maybe I'll have to start playing with another class or something.
Same here; I found it to be a very easy game. Almost as much so as CS. If you're into harder games, you should try Urban Terror (a Quake III mod). The game is hard to learn and insanely hard to master. Not only you have to be unerringly accurate; but you also have to be good at strafejumping, waljumping, overbouncing, nades (that's a whole different skill!)... just to name a few. Plus you have to know the map enough to interpret stereo sounds enough to know where your enemy is.
