I am in your same shoes, but I have 3 kids. I play maybe a few hours a night and skip a few nights and play more on the weekends. I managed to get about 14k now. I figure I will reach the 20k mark in about 1-2 months. No biggie. Once I reach that level I will just sit back and enjoy the game and not really care about score anymore since the next rank is pretty far off again. For those of you that think the ranks are too easy to get, really need to grow up get a full time job and have kids, then you will see how easy it is.

Just take it a thousand points at a time. I don't have a job, or my own children, however I'm a full-time college student with a niece and nephew over my house at least 3x a week. They do get pretty demanding, and it always seems right around when papers are due (aka every week, lol).

For now, take it easy, and see if you can average 1 thousand points a week/a week and a half. If you do that, you'll be there in no time.

Stick with Karkand, and you may want to be a commander in a 64 player map with 40 or lesser players. Maps last long, and if you win, thats 2x your score.

Do me one other favor, get at LEAST 7hrs of sleep a night. Don't turn into a BF2 zombie.

Armor and Medic. Most medics do it for the points. NOT ALL but many do.

Just keep playing and having fun and before you know it, you'll reach there. The more you play, the more experience you have and you learn how to manufacture points faster.

Just have fun and don't worry about points and rank... The ranks don't mean a great deal, except that you've played a lot more than others.
However if you do find it necessary to make lots of points quickly; Become an armoured vehicle whore, especially on Karkand. When not doing this, play as medic, frantically healing and reviving everyone. Sharqi and Karkand are good maps for medics. Another option is to become an accomplished pilot, ignore the enemy fighters and bomb everything in sight. Finally, although not as effective since the latest patch, flying in a Blackhawk, either as a support troop passenger, or a medic pilot will rack you up points.

                      8.000 => 20.000 is peanuts in comparisson to 20.000 => 50.000 ... trust me :cry:

I also don't have much time to play. I've got the full time job, the wife the 2 kids with another due this month. The wife doesn't like me playing, but I do it anyway. Getting 4-5 hours of sleep is hard. I don't focus well at work when that happens. I'd say 7 should be the minimum.

But anyway, this thread is about getting points, and I agree with the general consensus of just playing for the fun and the thrill of team work, and let the points come.

One thing I would hope you do not resort to however, is stats padding. I had a couple guys on my team doing that to me last night, very distracting. One would kill me and his buddy medic would revive me, over and over again.

I was so used to having my teammate shoot me, that one time when I thought it was my teammate it was actually an enemy shooting me in the back

The question is, what weapon do you unlock, because if you have to wait another lifetime to unlock the next weapon, you better make the right choice.

At my rate of making points, it'll be about March or April before I get the next promotion.

I have a real job and a pregnant wife. More importantly, I have about 13,000 points. I want 20,000 so I can have all the toys. After that, I will slow down. I squeeze in and hour here and there during the week, but I say - Hit the weekends and hit em hard. I get about 500 per weekend, maybe more. I just go without sleep. And Mashtuur city, Blackhawk. That map is the ATM machine for points. Call it whoring or whatever, but I need POINTS! I want the last two unlocks before the baby gets here and ruins everything!

I personnaly play for badges and ribbons as they are the things i have the chance of getting, when you have got enough badges and ribbons your rank will go up just because you have gained the points while trying to get the stuff.
Also if you play for badges you can try out stuff you might not normally do or use a kit you wouldn't normally and you might find you like it and it will bring a whole new aspect to the game.

I hear ya man. I love my kids, but boy has my gaming life changed. I still feel I play too much, but I play A LOT less than I used to PK (pre Kids).

One good thing... you can stay up playing until the baby starts crying in the middle of the night, then you take the baby into your wife for the feeding and you're suddenly a star because she didin't have to get up.
