60fps looks just like 999fps to your eyes. I guess its bragging rights though.
I always like the extra FPS in case the visual sh1t hits the fan - I have more wiggle room to accomodate an FPS drop before it gets choppy.

Where did you hear that? Your eyes are capable of seeing much higher frame rates then 60. As a matter of fact, the higher the fps, the more fluid objects are percieved by the eye. Thats an old Gamers Wives' Tale. If that was the case, then why do the come out with better Vid cards, Monitors, Tv's, etc? Now maybe some people's Brains are too slow to distinguish the difference. That may be possible! (Yes, it was a low blow aimed towards my x-wife) LOL

O but it does and ive posted pics in the media section. Much more detailed textures , more poly counts , more reflections of dynamic lighting form guns and explosions , More realistic smoke and fog effects etc etc etc.

When it comes down to it, seeing things better won't make you a better player, but having a higher fps can certainly help match your reflects, =)

But can your monitor (if it can, it is a CRT i hope)? 90 fps on an LCD is useless.

                  From Wikipedia:
"Even with expensive monitors that can reach even higher frequencies, the effect is somewhat lost as the human eye has difficulty in perceiving differences in frame rates above around 50-60 fps. Indeed, this is why televisions operate at 50 Hz and 60 Hz with PAL and NTSC standards respectively."

But to be fair, I've found articles supporting your claims as well. Only they are written by laymen rather than Doctors. Why do video card manufacturers want higher FPS? Simple. Sales.
