Too bad all you need to really do is press "right" then "left" mouse buttons in that order as fast as possible, and the C4 you just dumped out detonates immediately... Without having to WAIT SOO LONG for the detonator to appear!


Think of it like Goldeneye 64, you just had to press A + B buttons to detonate remote mines immediately.

QFT. damn to think people actually try to use the wheel or something to pull out the det. when all they have to do is hit the RMB. LMAO!

See the gun is for killing people, if you let them get close enough to kill you with C4 you must not know how to aim at all.

Ok wise ass. How about you run down the differences (in gameplay) between BF2 and Quake/CS/Doom/etc.

All of these games are run-and-gun shooters. This isn't Operation Flashpoint, Americas Army with vehicles, or Rainbow Six. The entire game is based on running around and blowing **** up. In fact, even the developers publicy stated that this game isn't based on real life and is an arcade shooter.

It's freakin priceless when people come on these forums telling others to "go back to CS" or "Quake". What they don't seem to realize is that the style of gameplay in CS/Quake/Doom is much like BF2. Think about these aspects of BF2:

- Grenade Launchers without a minimum range.
- No building destruction.
- Health packs.
- Ammo packs.
- Unmanned artillery called in by one guy.
- Magical supply drops every 30 seconds.
- Persistent UAV scans that make the enemy show up as red dots.
- C4 that destroys a tank with 2 packs.
- One-manned seeking anti-tank weaponry that is reloaded in 4 seconds and can be shot without aiming.
- Heavy sniper rifles (M95) that do not kill with one shot anywhere.
- The amount of times you have to shoot someone to kill them.
- Not all headshots kill from one shot.
- Parachuting from a 2 story building.
- Unlimited parachutes.

Must I go on?

This game is not based on realism at all. It takes modern day weapons and mixes that with the gameplay of CS and Quake. You're just looking for excuses to mold the game into the way that it's fun for you.

Like I said a million times... either buy your own server and make the rules or wait for mods. This game is the way that it is... and no matter how much bitching you do, nothing will change it.

Quit confusing this game for something else.

I'm responding to this post not to flame or argue, but because it brings up an intersting point:

I'd actually say there is one single defining differance between BF's game play and the other lot of shooters; Brain power needed.

Quake/CS/Doom/UT all rely almost entierly on reflexes. The areas tend to be small, simple, and easy to learn. Weapon's tend to be variations on a theme. This one goes boom, this one makes a bigger boom, and this one makes a really BIG boom. Oh, and this one shoots bullets, but it sucks.

BF games tend to rely more on a person's ability to understand what's going on. Do I take that tank into a crowed base where I can get snuck up on, or do I hang back and wait for my teammates to sweep the place? If I set up a firing line here, is it going to be more effective than over there? The enemy is really dug in well at that flag, so maybe we should go hit the other one?

True, in maps like Karkand the action can get perty "Quakey". Even there, tho, you have smart players who try to move on flags behind the lines, set up traps, or act as support.

Oh yeah! Support! There's another aspect that seperates the two. In BF you are rewarded and can make a serious differance to the outcome of the game without ever pulling the trigger.

Bottom line:
When asked to describe BF2, I would call it a shooter with tactical sim elements.
When asked to describe UT/Quake/etc, I'd just say "shooter".

Doesn't work because the C4 has to hit the ground before detonation, and even then it usually glitches and switches you back to your c4 instead.

no it doesn't i can throw every c4 and detonate it while its in the air.......it's not hard to do

arrrrgh!! your so right about this. That's a glitch they should of fixed in the patch since it is a legit glitch. completely fu*ks me off when you think you've got the kill only to see another pack drop at your feet. Then you have to scramble away...

I second that. In my opinion this is the only glitch in BF2 that really bothers me. Oh well.

I play Spec Ops a lot. There's no way you can throw C4 far enough and explode it in midair for it not to kill you.

Someone mentioned earlier that someone was running at them, throwing C4 on the ground and detonating it and surviving. They had just turned friendly fire off.

So thats what that glitch was. I was playing ranked yesterday at Karkand, and i was sniper, perching on a rooftop, spy my prey, when all of a sudden all hell breaks loose and all i see is dudes bunny hopping everywhere throwing c4 in each others faces, and explosions everywhere. So all this was happening an im just lying there on the rooftop just picking them off one by one. Even though it was a nasty glitch this c4 thing, but it sure helped me out, by distracting them. Its fun watching people play and get headshot by me out of nowhere and all you hear on comms is like WTF?? where that come from??

Then you haven't fully explored the class.

For those who don't know how to do it, sprint forward, jump stop sprinting, throw c4, as soon as it leaves your hand right click, left click, it looks like it drops another c4, but this c4 is actually not really there, and you will blow up the c4 in mid air, no hacks used etc, just trial and error.

Its very easy to combat though, noob tube them or just stay out of range and shoot them. Not hard. this tactic is very good for clearing out a flag.
