God damn, they nerfed the hell out of mines.

First off, they are as big as watermelons. Thats already a bad thing, as any vehicle not moving down a hill at max speed will see them in time to stop.

Now then, they are ginormous, and any explosion can destroy them.

What the crap?! If your gonna have them so easily destroyed why the hell do you even give engineers the ability to remove them? Making it so even a grenade can destroy the entire set of mines completely removes any use the engineer class has besides repairing. If they are so easy to destroy at least make them a bit less chunky, because.. damn just look at them, You can see them when they are on top of a hill because you will see the tops of them before cresting the hill. I shot a wall and blew up 5 mines, thats just wrong.

When an engineer picks up a mine, they are able to set it back down again. As in, you can move them around or restock on enemy mines if you ran out. Being able to destroy mines with grenades need to be in the game. It's the answer to engineers who block your own vehicles in at flags. We could go back to the old system, where you just hit the mine and punish the engineer, but then engineers would complain (more so).

Okay, then the mines can be made smaller and harder to notice if they need to be destroyed more easily. If you just look for that red skull and crossbones for the smaller harder to notice mine then you can toss your nade, and leave, and the engineer can patch the hole you made.

Why don't the let us place the mines underground?

I mean if I go and "wrench it" it'll disappear just under the surface when placing the mine???

          How about this:
I'm not sure how the interface would work, but if I say go prone and then lay a mine it will take like 3 second animation to place the mine "underground" (certain surfaces would not allow you to do this), otherwise it works like it does today. A mine underground cannot be destroyed by grenades or what not. Only the smallest part of the AT mine (the trigger), will be exposed when you take the time to place them "underground".

Here's what it would look like when buried:

          What do you think?

EA wont do it. it'll be impossible to get vehicle through enemy territory chokepoints in vehicle

No, the size of mines is fine as it is. With that underground idea, it'd be impossible to see them. Without giving people a chance to avoid them, things would get very frustrating. That is not conductive to good game play. Think of how you feel when you suddenly get annihilated by enemy artillery. Now imagine that more often and unstoppable.

Actually, there was a tournament mod to DC that made only the top of the mine stick out, people still saw them just fine, they only had to be a bit more careful.

put the mines in a place where the enemy can't see them, just after bridges etc... There's lots of blindspots around, 4 example the river at karkand and dragon valley.
If U could hide the mines on plain sight no1 would use ground vehicles anymore

Re: God damn, they nerfed the hell out of mines.

Shallow waters, in the grass, in a bush by the road, just after a bridge, on the downside of a slope.

A nasty trick I use is to put a mine in the middle of the road and then 2 more at the sides a bit further up the road so they'll try to dodge around the obvious mine and run over one of the other.

Regarding the issue of the mines on top of the road. I have problems with this. I prefer the silent heroes solution to it (old bf1942 mod), which was to put them underground as mentioned above in several posts.
                      Problem1: Obvious mine.
Problem2: Rolling mines. Put them on a slope and they'll roll down. Put them underground and they hopefully won't roll.

my policy now is, when i see mines. Friendly or enemy, i blow them up.

I just started really playing the engie kit lately and I haven't noticed a big problem with AT mines.

I have received a nice number of AT mine kills and hardly any Teamkills. Sure..there have been a few. After all, there are a lot of idiots out there.

You just have to be smart about where to place them.

I think it's a great kit. 1 mine takes out anything (including choppers if you do it right ). You get a nice CQC shottie, grenades, AND a wrench.

Arnt mines supposed to be somewhat hard to see, and hard to destroy?

Now, they are really easy to see, and easier now, to destroy. The only people who really get blown up by them are idiot team mates.

being able to blow mines up w/ grenades is awesome...if you have an enemy tank trying to take a flag, run up to it, and throw a mine somewhere near it, toss a grenade and run

before you had to either throw the mine on top of the tank or in front or behind it and hope they'd run over it, not anymore.
