Commanders flying jets...and Muntiny is disabled...rant

Ok, was just playing on the ranked Black Ops server where they have the Mutiny button disabled.

So our commander get into the bomber, SOLO of all things. The only reason I think they are doing this is to pad their score since the commander score will add to your combat/teamwork scores.

Seems this is becoming very common on Mutiny disabled servers.

I thought a commander score was just an average or your team's score.

    But yeah...

Sounds like there wasn't a admin online at the time. If there was it's hard to police the other teams CO or tk's. Did you or anyone try and contact a BOP member in game asking if there was a Admin online ? If there wasn't a admin online most of our members know they can get in contact with one.

I was just on your server 15 minutes ago. There were at least 4 people with the "BLKOPS" prefix...RetardedBuffalo was there as well I believe.

I asked several times over 'j' and nothing...

OK I'll look into it, I'm going to make a thread on our forums asking BOP members to watch the chat for this type of situtation. We have about 30 members not everyone plays at the same time during the course of the day nor may there be a member playing on our server at certain times. We try an mantain and run a good server yes there seems to be a flaw disabling the vote kick. I play on other server(s) that do have the feature enabled and it's a joke and annoying seeing a vote kick enabled every few seconds.

I have a great fix for things like this: do away with commander mode.

Hey Black... why not just enable the muntiny vote? It's rare that someone will actually be voted out, but if they're doing a poor job of command, it's atleast something that can be done.

I generally won't even bother playing on servers that have voting disabled. I've seen too much abuse on 'em.

The commander mode is BF2's biggest step forward in terms of game design. When used properly, it's a very cool aspect of the game.

If ya don't dig it, play something else and spare us your whining.
                K?

Here's a thought what about if EA can enable it that whoever applies for the CO spot has to have a certain amount of yes votes or points to get the postion ? It'll be flawed I'm sure. Be nice if it was like Americas Army were one has to qualify for stuff like Marksman/ Expert Badges. Just a thought.

I hardly see adding more arguements between players and more kick votes just because people want to be commander a step forward. I also hardly see allowing a player the ability to, without the use of any practice or skill, kill squads of people with the click-of-a-button artilliary, which is a step BACKWARDS from 1942 artillary that required someone to fire and someone to spot, and the person firing had to aim. Alas, this is not so with BF2. Also, the commander has two tools, scan and UAV, that allow them to know where anyone is, regardless, making sneak attacks and stealth useless as well. If you can prove to me these things aren't true beyond any shadow of a doubt, I'll agree with you.

When will people learn not to play on clan severs. 99% of whinges on this forum
are from people not playing on pub severs.

I play on public servers too. Just to mention what I've see on most of the public servers alot more TKing going on, vote kicks every few seconds, game text spamming and not to mention immature players.

You don't get points for either kills of teampoints as a commander. You don't get an average of your team's score either. You get points for people using your supply drops and getting Artillery kills (which are not counted as kills in your stats). The commander is also the only one that gets the X2 bounus for your team winning.
You are wrong on this one. Taken from my Commander Guide:

The formula for commander points is:

Total score earned by the team / # of players = Commander score.

Back in the days when BF2 players were still trying to figure out the forumula, many believed it was the average score per player in the team, even the crappy BF2 manual stated this theory. However, many pointed out several flaws in this theory, either by testing it or giving a counter scenario such as: "Why won't commander's score drop if the average score of each player decreases?"

The word that was missing in the theory that the commander score is based on the average score per player was EARN. This word drastically changes how the commander earns its points and explains various causes that lead to commanders getting points.

                          Again, I shall remind you:
Commander score formula: Total points earned by team / # of players in the team.

You see, when the average points earned by player goes up, the commander's score also increases. What's so unique about this formula compared to others is that commanders are immune to point reduction if their team's average score decreases due to TKs or other similar acts. Also, it safegaurds commanders from losing points or being delayed from earning their points if one or few of their teammates, especially players that gained high # of points, leaves the server hence dropping the average points per player.

This formula also explains why commanders get points if a player kills a spotted enemy either by commander's spot command or UAV and why commanders earn points if their teammates captures the flag.

In addition, it encourages the commander to keep supporting their team to earn more points via UAV, Spots, and Supplies. Furthermore, since commanders do not get any points from artillery, they steal kill points (1 Kill = 2 points) from thier teammates and thus commanders must carefully decide whether to use artillery against its foes that could be dealt with by friendlies. After all, friendlies get points for killing, but you do not (CMDR achieving 1 Kill/Assist/Capture = 0 points).

Do you see the irony? Killing enemies or capturing flags alone as commander will make you steal points from your teammates and therefore, by the formula, you will also be robbed of potential commander points.

Example of the formula in the works: In the first half of the match, your team consists of 20 players who earn a total of 400 points. However, due to Teamkills and other related incidents, your team has an overall total score of 325. In the 2nd half, 10 players from your team disconnects the server and thus you have a total of 10 players in your team. They earn a total of 300 points but due to TKs and other related incidents, your team has an overall total score of 250.

So with the given information, what's the total possible score a commander would get before the 2x bonus? Lets see:

                          1st half: 400 points earned / 20 players = 20 points per players
                          = 20+ for commander

                          2nd half: 300 points earned / 10 players = 30 points earned per player
                          = 30+ for commander

The total score a commander could have before 2x bonus is 50.

Unless if you still doubt me. Here's a counter scenario. Be commander and do not use any supply drops or artillery. Whether you're on singleplayer or multiplayer it doesn't matter. You'll find that you still get commander points for doing nothing.

Its because its set in the MODERN AGE.

If you find it too advanced when comparing it to weapons 60 years ago, perhaps you would find playing Battlefield:Stone age much better, in that game you cant just point and shoot, you have to caculate the ballistics of every rock slinger and bow. Hell you even have to walk around instead of using vehicles, and you canbe killed by animals, think about that. Compare that to 1942 it seems 1942 is too unblanaced, i mean, you can actually shoot people by aiming at them, how unfair is that.

the commander mode makes this game a total joke, imo.

magical radars that show your enemies location on it? LMAO.. get real.

its just a source for some shmuck to try and get his 2x bonus while
