The basic rules for not ramming into other jets

    Hi,

I'd like to try and save us all jet dudes, some silly mid-ari crashes between ourselves.

When you want to rearm/repair the jet, please do the following:

    1. Check the radar - if you see a friendly jet closer to the runway then you are (whether approuching from your side or the other!), let him finish his run, then take you turn (we don't have a control tower, so act with responsibilty).
    2. If you find your self comming fast towards a friendly jet and expecting a crash- espcailly when above the run way, do hard break to the right if he is comming from the front and left, and a hard break to the left is he is from the right and front. This is very logic and simple. If your team mate is to the front and left, it means he already has some distance to the left - you should widen that distance and not tighten the situation by breaking to the left too!.
If it seems you two are excatlly strait ahead - break right - because we are mostly right handed people...

If you manage to avoid these basic logical rules and crash into your friend - you deserve to be punished for the TK.

Good stuff. I pretty much follow those rules. I always try to check my map before coming in for planes and helicopters. I'll also add if your teammate is behind another plane trying to shoot it down....don't get involved and try to frag steal him..just handle your business. A few times I've been trying to finish off a jet and a teammate of mine will see the plane smoking and automatically chase after him as well and end up crashing into me. Just lay off damnit!

I try to stay over "my" runway on maps that have dual runways.. With just one runway (or on the carrier), I try to fly over in the pattern -- the direction that the jet goes when it takes off. If I know I'm flying slower than the other jet (trying to get more repairs..), I'll fly close to the deck so the other jet can just fly right over me.

My problem is when choppers are crossing the runway as I'm coming in. I'm usually off the throttle and slowing down so my jet isn't as manuverable.. I'll try to break high and in the opposite direction of the chopper's nose, but it doesn't always work

Ah yes! That is so annoying! A very good point. That's:
        1) Frag stealing.
        2) Dangerous.
        3) Waste of air resources.

eek...choppers It's true we are fast mover, and much of the resoponsibilty to not crash into choppers is ours, but that does not give the choppers the right to climb up with full throtlle and crash into us! The best thing a chopper should do if he notices a friendly jet closing in - is - not do anything! Just hold until he passes and if you are already moving keep moving at the same speed and direction. Don't change flight vectors like mad - this will probably end in a crash.

Yea, that's when I "ram" enemy choppers in game.. Lock on, fire a couple missles that miss, shoot at em with the canon, then break when I'm danger close. Of course, they break the same direction I do.. and BOOM. If they'd just hold steady I'd fly harmlessly by.

LIAR! :) Greed keeps you locked onto the target, missles fail, cannon fails, wait...I have a jet, it'll work and take out that cobra!

How about a "basic rules for not ramming into helos thread" :)

Can't u aviators just chase each other around so that the helo pilots can go about their grunt work...otherwise, I'm going to have to keep working on putting a TV missle up your tailpipe :)

I agree, helicopters are a bigger obstacle for aviators. I crashed into one this morning, as he was gaining elevation during a hover as I was going in for a bomb run. I saw him during my approach, but I couldn't tell he was elevating into my path until it was too late. Luckily he didn't punish, and was very understanding that it was an accident.

I also find when I'm in a helicopter that I get hit by aircraft, friendly and enemy, far more than by other helis.
