BULL....I don't buy it. Who buys BF2, jumps in the J10 and stays in the J10 for months on end. Where's the learning curve? I smell a rat. IF I'M wrong. Hats off. But I think somethings up. Either way. Who cares I guess.

I played against him once, and it didn't look like he was cheating.

Another guy (SCUBA_007), does cheats in jets though
His K/D ration in jets was less than 3.0, but when I played against him yesterday, he went like 60-0/70-0 in a jet every round.
What made me suspicious is that he could see me even if I was hiding in a bush/behind a building, and kill me, while he was in a jet flying at topspeed...
          And that happened every time...

Just give them a team average for the percentage of the game they fly.

Also it has been mentioned (although i am not accusing this particular pilot) that many pilots using the cannon for most/majority of their kills (which is uncheckable in stats)are using a name tag hack.

How the hell can some of these pilots PINPOINT (uva does not pinpoint) a sniper hid in scrub and cannon him from distance without a name tag hack ?....I'll never know.

Take the cannons off the planes until the name tag hacks are detected by pb.

            His stats look freakily unreal.
bs. Dont call ppl hacks because of skill and talent you cannot comprehend. I many times have killed snipers on top of buildings with cannon fire when they appear on uav or when someone spots him, or a teammate tells me over comms. Cannons have an explosive impact, so it doesnt DIRECTLY have to hit him.

Well there are many possibilties. He might've practiced flying when the Gulf of Oman demo was released where stats were not tracked. He might've already gotten used to the physics and handle of the aircraft from previous Battlefield. Or he could've indeed learned during the first hours of his flight.

To be honest, it doesn't take much time to learn the basics of flying BF2 aircrafts, nor is it difficult to improve the skill. I learned the basics of flying in BF1942, maintained the skill in BF:Vietnam, and I improved and adjusted the skill to BF2 in Gulf of Oman demo, including how to bomb accurately with only one salvo (2-5 bombs).

Finally, I doubt he can provide a tutorial, I don't think any good pilots can. I can safely say that all of their skill is based on experience and instinct, not by a textbook.

There is no reason to think he is cheating, some people have the ability to actually get REALLY good with bf2 vehicles, unlike most players (luckily). hes just a planewhore, and good at it.

F course, he wouldnt have such a good score if the AA did its job.

I can accept skill. I can accept your explanation....but look at the rest of his stats...You buy the game and never venture out of a plane? COME ON! Even only for a bit? What about waiting for a jet? He must get bored eventually and venture out? I don't buy it.

He came across something a hack then started a new profile.

Again...if I'm wrong...I can accept that...but human nature would dictate that he would of ventured out and try to cap a few flags.

It's not so much the skill I question...it's everything else that makes me suspicious.

Sorry to disappoint some of you, but I don't cheat, I'm just an accomplished pilot. I've got a knack for avoiding death too (as some have pointed out), as almost all my deaths are the result of one of four things, a mid-air collision with another pilot, which I never see coming because it's always them broad siding me. Or getting kicked/banned off a server while in the air, which sadly/surprisingly registers as a death, and is usually a result of a server admin suspecting me of cheating or disliking my combat strategies (kicks/bans account for a disturbing 57 total deaths while flying). Or of crashing to desktop out of BF2 and as a result crashing while I'm not at the wheel, and last thing that'll kill me is those pesky teammates killing me during take off, either because they want my plane, or they're a part of what I lovingly refer to as my fanclub (or a group of players, who probably originated off the PBF forums who follow me from server to server and try and disrupt my enjoyment). That isn't to say air-to-air missiles don't hit me (with the exception of the J-10) those little bastards hit me all the time, but rarely do I get two back to back quick enough to kill me. Good pilots have shot me down, though never in a J-10, but as my statistics show I've spent the majority of my time in the U.S. airplanes, which are the worst.

I fly the jet fighters only, no bombers, as I find the jet fighters are much more challenging to use, and enable me to participate in air to air combat more effectively. And no, I don't just "rape bases" as some have suggested. That's not to say I don't do it, because I will base rape if I've run out of other suitable targets. I care first and foremost about our team winning the game. I destroy almost exclusively helicopters, other airplanes, and all types of ground-based vehicles. If I run out of those kind of targets then I'll bomb bases or whatever else is available. And yes, as a previous poster suggested I've developed quite the internal spawn timer in regards to enemy vehicles. On my loop of the battlefield when the time is right I'll swing back around to the enemy helipad or runway and destroy those vehicles while they're still on the ground, as in this state they're much more vulnerable. Is it cheap? Maybe. Is it effective? Extremely. You know what they say though, all is fair in love and war.

I'd love to post a full recording of my methods (for nonbelievers, and beginner pilots looking for some guidance), but through all my games and countless servers I've yet to have any BF2 BattleRecorder files available to download. A couple have been listed but failed to download. So if you know of a good 64 player server I can join with air maps that will provide me with a BF2 recording of the game I'd be more than happy to post it for scrutiny. Fraps won't work because not only will it effect my performance, but my hard drive is inadequate for a file of that size.

I don't necessarily think I'm the best pilot in BF2, even though I'd like to think so, but I've yet to meet my match in air to air combat, or in overall effectiveness at suppressing the enemies air and ground targets. Yes, that's half a challenge half a brag.

                      See you in game.
I think you are a good pilot my friend. I feel im very good myself, and look forward to meeting you sometime soon in the air. People will call you cheap, hacker, etc but that comes with the territory of being a good pilot. I love flying as well, I just usually dont LIKE to fly the j10 cuz of its superiority as a jet. I like to face people with Mig vs f35 or F18 vs Mig cuz i feel thats a much more balanced fight.

                      I'll look you up :)

Heh guys like PlaneWhore are one of the top reasons that Karkand is the most played map, because there's absolutely no air power whatsoever. If jets weren't so overpowering then the other maps might be played more often, although considering how fast points can be racked up in Karkand and that a majority of BF2 players don't care for anything other than points I still doubt it. *shrugs*

Well in any case, PlaneWhore, did I read correctly that you use a keyboard/mouse for flying rather than a joystick? I read a suggestion in Tips forum that says if you edit the .con file for planes you can set the mouse sensitivity way up. Is that what you did? Does it make the jet more manoeuverable than it would with a joystick? Or do you just know some great dogfighting/evasive techniques that allow you to evade enemy pilots better? One of these days I'd like to get my airborne ribbon and to do that I'll need at least some skill in jets! :p

If I had the choice to fly aircrafts in BF2 all the time and nothing else, I would take it. I have this joy and pleasure whenever I am flying aircrafts and it never dies until my aircraft crashes by lag. You get this "I am the king hurhurhur!" feeling whenever you keep killing your enemies but they can't do **** about you.

I have logged in over 60 hours in aircrafts, and I not one bit of this pleasure of joy has been chipped off

I don't like flying much in this game. Back in Desert Combat days... with the old -E- pilot crew... 2v2 dogfights. Damn that was fun. I only had trouble with a couple people. Baron from sin, I remember as being the best pilot out there. Havn't seen him around on BF2. Probably still banging the PoE drum or some crap.

My opinion is that it is perfectly balanced. I know from experience in the hands of a skilled user any AA method is extremely effective, you've just got to time it right (plane needs to be at a certain speed/distance/heading in relation to the AA launcher itself). I've encountered some people who amazingly enough have shot me down 2 or 3 times in a row with most of the missiles hitting, and this is from ground-based AA mind you. This isn't just a fluke either, it's those rare folks who know how to use the AA, as whenever I encounter these people I always see the missiles coming from the same distance and heading.

Now throw in the fact that practiced pilots such as myself can absolutely obliterate other pilots, and that the Mobile AA/Essex gun are also very deadly and it seems a little more even. The only problem is with the J-10. That aircraft just has too much thrust, and can turn too quickly. But speaking of the U.S. aircraft, and even the Mig (which is the best out of the other 3) all those fighters are hit by AA missiles quite often, even when I'm piloting them, and as for bombers, they're nothing more than lambs for the slaughter unless you're completely inept. I've made lots of posts on other forums on this subject and I've got 100 different points of debate on planes, and I personally feel no one have been able to best me in an argument relating to the balance of planes.

To sum it up, the AA is fine, but the J-10 is not.. they need to tone it down to bring it in line with the other aircraft. That is my absolute final stance on the subject, and if your team is getting spanked by pilots (especially a bomber) flying anything other than the J-10 then you've got nobody to blame but yourselves. Most of that blame goes to your teams fighter pilots, and you'll understand that if you get the chance to play with me and you'll notice that almost if by magic the enemy aircraft vanish from the game.

I'm sure there are hacks out there. But in my experience I rarely ever see any pilot other than myself (occasional friendly bombers whom are under my protection excluded) that are racking up any sizeable amount of kills on a regular basis. If I can manage 70-0+ kills/deaths every game then I could only imagine how much ass I could kick if I could see troops from the air with some kind cheat. I'd be able to run well over 100-0 on a regular basis I imagine, and I've never seen of or heard of anyone scoring that high with a plane. Sure i'd kick a lot more ass but I wouldn't be able to take pride in my abilities and resulting victories, and for me that's the best part of BF2.

To answer the second part, pilots have a number of methods they can employ to hit troops with the cannons. The cannons themselves are very lethal with a small bit of splash damage, and a 1 shot kill capability assuming it's a direct hit.

I have four main methods for shooting troops with guns. Method #1 is the most obvious, in which I simply estimate where infantry might be located and try to pepper the ground with an even spread of bullets to kill anyone in that area. Places like airstrips, helicopter pads, enemy flags, and flags that have just been captured/neutralized are all prime locations for this type of random fire.

Second method I use involves switching to my rear view as I fly low past an area and scout for troops. I'll keep their last known location in mind and come back around and start hitting that general area with cannons. A lot of the times they don't move and they make for an easy kill, which leaves the only difficult part in being the actual spotting of the troop while passing at such a high rate of speed, but this gets easier with practice.

The third method is a little more advanced and I don't pull it off very often. I'll fly low to the ground over an area where I know I'll see some troops while keeping my eyes firmly locked at maximum clipping range. As soon as I see an infantryman appear visually I'll quickly use my rudder to twist and line up with them, start firing my guns and then quickly dip my plane down and back up, which effectively splashes them with gunfire. The last method is pretty obvious, and involves using UAV/spotting to guesstimate where on battlefield that particular blip is matching up to and do your best to spray bullets around that area. Using this method I have done what you have described and killed lone snipers out in remote areas with a little luck.

I use a joystick, Logitech 3d Pro to be exact. I've never bothered to try and use a mouse but I can only assume it doesn't allow for any sharper turns than with a joystick, but I'm going to test it out and see for myself. Right now I fly with a rather unique configuration, or rather I'm sure it's not the norm. My right hand on joystick, and my left hand on my mouse. I use the mouse to control all of my map functions, but most importantly I use it in concert with my joystick which has a particular button bound for mouse look. So I can quickly look side to side in my cockpit using joystick/mouse which can be invaluable in a dogfight. As for dogfighting tips, I've got plenty, but the best one I can give is... practice, of course .

Finally, to all the people wondering about my statistics. I have two profiles, one of which I registered a month after BF2 came out that I use exclusively for infantry combat, this profile has less than an hour in any vehicle, and has spent the vast majority of the time on the ground as infantry. The PlaneWhore profile only exists because I use different graphical options while flying versus ground pounding (no shadows for one) and a completely different control scheme. Having multiple profiles allows me to do this without dicking around with my settings all the time, and as such is worth its weight in gold to me.

Phew, long post.. I hope you appreciate those follow-ups.
