We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
As i said tho. . . Not everyone plays with 3D map up. So not everyone has the big red crossbones.
Its easy to accidentally switch it off cos its right near Ctrl and the space bar. maby in the patch they could remove the ability to play with it off, so everyone can see the warning markers. Or remove punish altogether as its just F-ing annoying.
If i see a teammates (or enemy's) mines in front of me, i'll shoot them with my tank, or apc. Or if i'm on foot i'll toss a nade or grenade launcher on them.
This is one of the biggest things that bugs me about this game, I have twice as much time as engi than any other class and stopped using mines after about 2 or 3 hours of the class because ppl just cant seem to understand that big red f**k off sized skull and cross bones mean that you will die.
Instead they start to think like a pirate and go over to them so they can dig up the treasure buried under them "ahhrrr there be treasure here!.....boom" closely followed with "WTF!!!"...instapunish.
As far as I know I have never punished for running over a freindly mine, I had ample warning and wasnt looking. In fact I appollogise for running over it and causing the poor bastard to loose points, but I forgive 99% of the time anyway.

If I'm laying a mine field on a bridge I'll tell people that I'm doing it and I will stand in the area with the mines to show Hey mines here go around. It works while your there then some fool runs into them.
But it does **** me off when I don't know from a distance if that is a mine or C4 in the road. One time I had a tank on me while in a jeep and I had to stop real fast, get out, see what it was, then drive off.
And I'm shocked to learn that I use the engineer a lot these days. I love that shotgun. But the tk system has made me stop using mines all together.
yesterday, I was ordered by the CO to mine the bridge at Karkand. I did this in a fashion that still allowed traffic, if they took the time to turn around and through it.
After I do this, I move to the main again to help in defending, I see a friendly jump in the tank and move towards the bridge. I know what'll happen next, and sure enough, it happened.
He stopped halfway up the bridge, looked at the mines, then continued to plow straight ahead and over them.. punish was instant.
I told the smackpant that I was ordered to mine that bridge, that the mines where clearly visible and that anyone with more intelligence then a random carrot would have seen and avoided the mine.
I refused to put up any mines even though the CO was practically begging for them (can't imagine why as I feel they're useless against armour anyway.. the one thing they're designed to kill can 'remove' it without blinking, anyway.. was just acting as ordered and got punished for it)
Some people are just not fit to play multi-player games. especially games involving using your head for anything else then headbutt people or sticking it in the ground.. I agree, fix this sh1t, and while you're at it, fix mines blowing up when you light a cigarette near them!
These are all excellent responses...It is amazing no asshats have posted in this...thank you...anyways...
I have heard some interesting concepts such as placing a Marker in the mini map that shows friendly mines...this may help...the thing is a single engineer can hold off a offensive attack by the enemy by just using mines... For example Karkand you can mine every major entrance into the city and keep the USMC out just about the whole game...you can do this only using 5 mines....
I also don’t see intentional TKers using mines to TK everyone....I think you might be giving them to much credit, most the time these people want instant gratification and want to pi55 everyone off as fast as possible....And the TKing mine tactic would just take to long...
The thing is the people who are paying attention and not going all gung ho Rambo style see both enemy and friendly mines...It is the people that run in without any care for their surroundings that hit mines....Isn’t a golden rule to combat, being aware of your surroundings?????.....
Bottom line the engineer is penalized for providing a service to his team...Personally it really chaps my ass when I have an excellent round defending tons of flags and getting mucho kills to only end up with a negative team work score...I mean wtf, you are helping your team win yet you get penalized for it....
I think we all are in one agreement that EA/DICE needs to do something about this problem...I mean just look at the poll results, it is what we like to call a landslide
This is the reason i never play engineer anymore. Playing as an engineer can give your team a real advantage, but it's just not appreciated. A while ago, i blocked the passage through the water on karkand. To prevent teammates from driving over it, i just stayed by my mines to remove them if someone needed to pass, and place them again if they passed, but it didn't matter. They didn't bother to give me the time to remove them, they just raced over it. No. No more engineer for me.

I have to disagree with this. I found nothing gets you more "thank you's" than playing engineer and your fix a guys vehicle. Then again I don't use the mines much. I figure even if i place them right and and allow a way for my teammates to get by it probably slows them down enough to make them pretty vulnerable. And i've been killed a couple times when i navigate a minefield only to find heavy fire and wanted to reverse. (of course i did not punish for the kill)
Today i got in a car and i could see the BIG RED CROSS SIGN there were loads of them and this guy that was drivin goes faster and faster then before i can hit "E" He goes str8t into them!
Mines (of both kinds) should have different warnings above them so that they can't be confused with C4.
I'd like it if both parties got minus points for whenever someone runs over a friendly mine. That way, there would be no bottle necking by the engineers, and no idiots running over them on purpose just to get the guy kicked.
Maybe then more guys would learn to do like I do, and put the mines in a diagonal line, instead of one right next to the other. Don't put them close together so that they chain explode. Space them out. If that tank wants to clear those mines, make him fire as many shots and take as long as possible to do it.
If I run over a friendly mine, I will, 99% of the time, I do not punish, and I appologize to whoever put the mine down for giving them the automatic -2, and destroying their mine, because I know it was my fault. You have no idea how happy it makes some of those guys to see that.
I know it'd make me happy. I play engineer a lot, and sometimes, even when I take all precautions, someone blunders over my mines and WHAM instant punish. I don't expect anyone else to be like me about it, though, so I'm not disapointed.
edit: friendly mines on the minimap would be great, too. Then people who unknowingly turned off their 3D map wouldn't crash and burn.
Still, as i mentioned before... The RED jolly rogers cant be seen by the choads who decide to switch off 3Dmap. This could be addressed by making 3Dmap an unswitchable feature which is always on.
TKs should be Nerfed for mines (AT and Claymore)
Liking the concept of friendly mines appearing on the minimap!
See I haven’t really had the issue of being punished...what finally put me over the edge with this issue was the other night...I though I was having an excellent game, I actually was...I didn’t see any punished for TKs and I did notice a few team kills, but sure enough when I hit tab my team work is a huge negative....I am like how is this possible, I have been repairing people, defending flags, setting up mines to stop enemy armor from coming down the entrances to the city, etc. etc.
At that moment I was like WTF this is such bull....These people didn’t even punish me, I'm assuming they realized it was their bad...Since I also told everyone where I mined (couple of times accidentally hitting the talk all...WHOOPS)...Yet with all effort on my part and my teammates not punishing me I still ended up with a negative team score yet I was in the top 3 overall....Its effen bull shizzle and everyone knows it....lets hope that we can make a big enough stink about something that is an ACTUAL problem and not just trying to make the game easier by whining about stupid crap like oh the BH is sooooo powerful, blah blah blah...you get the point
I say remove the TK to the entineers for AT mines. Claymores too. Post 1.03 patch, you can blow up mines with grenades so the fear that some jerks will lay mines to shut down a base or box in a tank isn't as much of an issue. Sure, they can box in a tank and put the mines so close the tank will blow with the mines. But, you can still remove the mines and get the tank again once it respanws.
As for laying mines on friendly tanks, without the negative score from TKs that could become an issue. However, it's not as easy as it sounds (and anyone who's played an engineer and tried to repair a friendly tank will know this).
I think the best method is to not get negative scores for TKs but still tally those TKs to kick the person if they kill too many. It will mitigate many of the problems mentioned above. You'll still have the original problem of people trying to **** off the engineers but, at least, they'll go away with some negative points and it won't be as easy to do.
One other solution (although I doubt anybody would like it) is for your vehicle to automatically break when they approach mines. That goes for both sides. Sure, you won't kill with mines anymore and it's not entirely realistic. But, the mines will serve their tactical purpose of blocking passage for vehicles even if they loose their exclamation point at the end.
