    Chinese version of Karkand

I am sure that all of us wants to see a Karkand style map, based in China, with all the Chinese weapon (AK!)

However, most of us are also used to Karkand, down to every grass of it.

Here is my idea, it's fairly simple. Why don't someone (or DICE for that matter) make a Karkand-like map, with similar building placement, spawnpoint arrangement, vehicles, etc, but only with everyone of them replaced to their Chinese counterpart? That is, you will get a karkand with Chinese village feel, and that factory in karkand can be replaced with a nuclear powerplant, etc.

Why would Dice copy Karkand's layout and not just make an original USMC vs. PLA infantry map?

I'm all for a city battle between the US and the Chinese, but I don't want another version of Karkand, I want something new and different.

I don't care if it's chinees or not, but I just want more citymaps, that is the reason why I will probably buy the expansion pack, more infantry based.

but offcourse, dice may bring some new maps to us for BF2

yeah it would be an easy map to make if you just swapped over the vehicles and kits but like ^he said I would rather they put that time and effort into another new map.

          Why use the Karkland layout?

I think what would be best is an urban map, like Karkland is, but unique to China. If all you knew about China was from BF2 you would think they didn't have a single town or city.

I wouldn't mind an urban themed China map provided it was done right.

Let me elaborate myself some more. We would of course expect DICE to do something better (Shanghai, Bejing, etc)

But I digress. My main point is, someone in the community can swap Karkand with Chinese buildings and structures, and put that in the next TBF map pack.

Changing the army on a map is pretty easy to mod yourself. I've done it for some other maps and codebasher did it for some of his expanded SP/co-op maps. You'd probably want to make a copy of the map and rename it so you don't lose the original Karkand (there's info in the mapping forum on how to rename). Then you would open the server.zip file for the map and edit init.con to change the team names and kits and GamePlayObjects.con to replace all the objects. You could probably even get away without changing the objects since most of them are pretty much the same as the MEC objects with different names. The init.con changes are the most important.

let me clarify even more, yes, I DO WANT THE EXACT layout as karkand, but this new map would have all Chinese statics, in atmosphere that probably resembles Daqing, and instead of sand storm, you get fog.

basically, it's like a remake of a classical map (inferno from CS 1.6 vs. inferno in CSS, graphically they are very different, yet layout = the same)

                        Re: Chinese version of Karkand

If China was invading Vegas the power would be cut long before they got there. So it would look kind of boring.

If you even want to stay in the realm of realism the Chinese would never get further then Hawaii, if that.

an exact layout would be stupid, chinees army sucks anyway.

i do not want exact layout. actually 16-paleyr Dalian is kinda urban. with like 1 attack chopper, which makes it kinda like Sharqi
