Just like me with the L85, ||ass||variable, up there has no clue how to use the PKM, its anything but a crappy gun. just takes some gettin used to. the advise given so far is what i woulda said. its pretty much right on with what ive found with the gun.
IDK; I think the gun is really great. I mean, it's quite accurate, and can kill unarmored people in 3 hits. I use it like a sniper gun; but it can be deadly in close quarters as well. Works well for me... the only thing that ****es me off is it spontaneously changing fire modes; though I learned to just keep clicking it by now. Try to fire in controlled bursts anyway...

(Excuse me for not reading the total thread and maybe the double posting)

you are right. Peeps saying this guns is accurate (its just as accurate as all the support guns IIRC) while firing short burst firing low, this, that and so on miss the point. Of course you can kill with the PKM, but its just mediocre in relation to allmost all other guns in the game (and certainly does not reflect anything realistic btw). Talking about realism.. I hear everybody talking about stopping power. what does "stopping power" mean in this game?

the pkm is great if you now how to use it and how it reacts when fired. single shot is best with a prone enemy, aiming below him slightly. but if the target is standing its pretty easy to hit him.

i just want to say to especially ass varialbe ya flame me about having a positive kill:death ratio but not 2:1 well i don't know if you can read and actually research crap. Hab03 is the only guy to have a 2:1 K:d ratio in our top 10 and that is great! HAB03 is a great player and the guy who is #1 above him has waaayy more deaths than he does and by time I catch up to his time played i'll be around +4 or 5 thousand deaths over kills and around 18000 kills atleast very equivilant numbers...its caleld progression as a player. Now variable we can't all be armor whores and some of us get right in the thick of things. Thats what I do! I will hunt down squads to take them out myself not run away like a little girl. I cap flags by myself frequently and usually lead the team in flags defended. I have seen HAB03 play when I first started the game and he does too...PKM rules all and can be extremely deadly if used right. I hopped on a 16 player karkand last night came in the middle of the battle and knocked out 29 kills with 5 deaths. Now i almost exlusively play city maps and karkand especially and unfortunately due to loser players and their spawn camping on that map I would guess a good 20% of my deaths were me not even being able to move. So before you open your big fricking mouth just trying to add posts to your complete fluffed up forum total you should actually look and think about what you are saying. I would just like to point out also that almost everyone on that list has a 1:1 kill death ratio approx maybe a little more or a little less so as far as I can see my K:d is ahead of the game and HAB03's is just godly. How's that for a reverse flame?

I just think it's funny that only 1 of the top 10 Support players can manage a 2:1 K/D, even though you all have the amazing, unstoppable killing power of the PKM and other LMGs.

If the gun was as good as you claim (wish), you'd all be doing better.

                1. Support usually move alone and not get revived a lot
                2. A lot of my support death come from using other guns and run into tanks
                3. I can post a screenshot where i got 30-3 using PKM on karkand.

#1 and #2 are not unique to Support players, so they can't excuse the ratios we're discussing.

by saying using other gun i meant the wimpy SAW

also SUPPORT guns have a longer learning curve, and you really die alot when you try to learn to master them.

as for habo3 ungogly kill/death ratio

the way i see it he is agreat vehicle camper and that's about it !!!!!

and he has more loses than wins so he obviously isn't that much of a team player so since this is a team game what good is he!!!!!

i die as much as i kill but i have almost 100 more wins than deaths becasue i will work to help team win not camp or cower stats are nice but i like wins over looses

                        Re: pkm

The nice thing about the PKM is it gets people's attention. One of the things I love to do when a Blackhawk or Apache is trying to cap a flag is lay down prone so I'm shooting up at the belly of the chooper or through the side where the gunners are. Then I'll unload into that thing. Accuracy isn't as much of an issue at this range and size of target. Takes a while to get them smoking, but they notice the bullets pretty quick. That puts them in defense mode and the hunt begins. If they are a good chopper pilot and have someone in there that can gun, your lifespan may be short. But most of the time, with duck and cover, I'll run them off the flag this way and send them home smoking.

Support is a great class. But I'll back what others are saying. It is not a class for people that want the high K/D ratio. Sure, you have one of the most powerful guns in the game. But you are less mobile than the other classes. You are not heavily armored. You can do very little against armor. And your muzzle flash can be seen across the map. But who really cares about the K/D ratio anyways? If I did, I'd be assault, spec ops, sniper or pilot. Support players are team players that play a utility role. And I love having them on my squads.

The discussion is around the killing power of the PKM - go re-read the claims on the first few pages.

As such, K/D is the best indicator we have for sheer efficiency in murdering bad guys. Bottom line is that the LMGs, and even the PKM, just don't stack up.

As for the Blackhawk scenario that everyone loves to cite, the AT class can set the BH smoking in one shot, and down in two. Both in a fraction of the time it takes a Support guy to achieve those results.

You are less mobile because you ARE heavily armored. And the SAW is probably better against helos than the PKM since it does more damage per second.

Hmmm, didn't read the specs closely enough to realize that. You certainly have low endurance. I figured this was programmed in to compensate for the virtual baggage you are carrying.

And yes |ass|, I know what the original thread was about. My post was in reaction to the tone of several of the posts that were derogatory towards the Support class. I think it's ridiculous to quote K/D ratios in the first place. But it's even more out of place in this discussion, unless, as you say, you are only talking about the effectiveness of the weapon. Even then, is it a good indicator of the weapon's effectiveness? If you define effectiveness to be the ratio that you kill with it vs. the ratio you die with it, then yes, it's ineffective. But as I've already mentioned, the effectiveness of the weapon can be measured in other ways.

Also, I agree that the antitank rounds can be quite effective against the choppers that are hovering over a flag. I've gotten pretty good at hitting them at a distance as well. Takes practice, but it does work. That said, the PKM overall is better at anti-air than the AT. Most of the time on high pop servers, a chopper will be inbound and every guy with an AT will fire up at them. Few hit. All the while, while it's still far off in the distance, I'm painting the target with PKM rounds. It does less damage, but once again, it get's the point across. And like I said before, this is good if you are playing defense and want to discourage simple blackhawk caps. But it's bad, because he knows you are there and he's probably going to try and take you out when he arrives.

I'd like to invite every helicopter pilot in the forum to tell us which infantry-carried weapon presents more of a threat - the SRAW/Eryx or the LMGs (including PKM). I'll go ahead and post this in the main forum to maximize visibility.
