videocard 6600GT WTF

Ok well i buy this 6600gt 128MBcard thinking it will make all my games run better on higher settings, well it dosent! Like i can play bf2 on high everything but shadows thats where it kills me. Runs great on farcry but nothing newer.

I am running on a AMD athlon 64 3000+ 2.1GH GeiL 512 PC 3200 X2 memory K8n platinum mobo and a 160GB HD.

So I was thinking about getting the 6600Gt 256 but im not sure how much better that will be, so maybe i should save up and get that 6800Gt.

512 ram is the problem. Get at least 1 gb, 2gb is optimal.

Dude i said GeiL 512 PC 3200 X2 the X2 means i have 2 sticks, leading to 1GB. So i dont think thats the prob,.

I have 1.5 GB RAM but cant run my 6600GT/128 at anything except Low textures or it glitches out one way or another. I have seen posts from people here with the same card that can run Medium textures, I only wish I could.

-i can run 2x or 4x AA... can run 1024X768 and higher... but not textures, have been playing with it recently... was working ok on medium textures but found that every time used SRAW rocket after firing in zoom would get a white box in center of screen and a 5-10 second lockup.... wierd. Put it back to Low textures no problems. Any ideas?

1 gb is not much for BF2, runs way smoother with at least 1,5/2 gigs.

If yo want everything on high save up and buy a 6800gt and another gig.If you want shadows, textures have to go down to medium

well Catskill i got the same damn card you got, its not good, i hate it now. I can play it with no pron but once i set shadows on med it lags like a mofo. I am returning it.

I have an XFX 6600 GT and sucks ass. They are having a ton of problems with that card. I've gotta send mine in for the RMA

I have a 6600 GT 128, all setting on medium, 2x aa, 1024x768 and it runs great.

P4- 3.0 HT
2 Gigs, 4x PC 2700 DDR
SATA 150 Seagate

Bit of lag once I load a map, once I look around in all directions it goes away and plays nice and smooth.

I have a 9800Pro and I play lag free with all settings on high draw distance 100, everything on, 2xFSAA 8xAF 1024x768 32bit

But i have 1.75GB of Ram. 1GB+256mb+512MB DDR400@333

when I had 768mb only...it ran for shiiit. the RAM makes a BIG BIG BIG difference.

Ok well im going back to low settings and i will get somthing later, its better to have fun then look good.

dude, did you not read my post? your PC is better than mine. get MORE ram BF2 will use up to 2GB of memory. If I can play on high settings you should be able to with enough ram. and a great net connection. My fiber optic net connection is 5Mbps down/2Mbps up.
