I am writing this because I am personally an analytical person. I feel that the only way for me to see the light that others have apparently seen is for me to ask them right out why it is that they do what they do. That said, I have a question for all the admins and server owners out there who put a filter on their servers that catch language.
Although you pay for the server and you're well within your rights to administer any rules you see appropriate, I must ask, why, in a game that awards merit for shooting people in the face with a bazooka, picking off people from a distance with a .50 caliber sniper rifle intended to disable vehicles, gives awards for sneaking up behind people and slitting their throats with a knife, etc. would you deem it inappropriate for me to tell the jackass on my team who just teamkilled me point blank with a shotgun to "FCK OFF"?
I must know why in a game that is rated Teen 13+ the server admins must take it upon themselves to administer what words should and shouldn't be said?
Now, I have heard such arguments as:
"I want to keep the family atmosphere in my server" -- I really don't think an 8-year-old should be playing a game in which you shoot people for points
"Some people in here aren't 18+" -- Have you EVER been 13? Personally, I heard more swearing in middle school than I hear at a COLLEGE FRAT PARTY!
"It's supposed to be a fun game" -- Again, we're shooting people for points in this game... it is fun; for those who are mature enough to play it... if you don't want your 8 year old seeing curses, don't let him play a game where he carries an M16 and blows people to bits with a grenade launcher. It's a VIOLENT game intended for MATURE people... GET OVER IT
Just looking to see if anyone else feels my pain, or if the Admins of these "Disneyland" servers have any wonderful insight that might allow me to see your side, given my points above.
Thanks
