Unfortunately, a lot of people are following this advice, and on loads of servers there's no room for more squads (max. 9 per team). This is very bad for teamplay.

Instead, when in need of Commander help, just create a squad (Insert), call for arty/uav/supplies, and then leave the squad again. This way there's enough room for more squads.
After all, it only takes a single keypress to make a squad so it's not like you're losing a lot of time by doing it this way.

I can see your point but in my experience I've never seen more than 5 squads on a public server.

Maybe a good compromise would be to form one "lone wolf" squad when there are lots of squads where all the spec ops/snipers go so they can be given orders. They then have access to the command structure if need be and don't take up loads of squads.

I guess it comes down to what type of server you're on.
Personally I play exclusively on 64-slots servers, and I see a full squad list in about one of three or four games.

Your solution for grouping snipers etc. together could be a good one, the only problem is that only the squad leader gets the "commander benefits".

Also don't forget that this is BF2! duh i know...:)
But seriously, it isn't some real life simulator or hard-core do-a-mistake-and-you-die type of game... instead it's a pretty world with dolphins and many many bunnies to be seen:p

try out America's Army (free game) if you wanna use your skills in a bit more realistic game where they probably will show

Re: Help being a sniper - I suck

I really hate loads of the public servers - It seems that maybe 1 in 3 players actually want to play as a team. The rest of them just run about and do whatever the hell they want.

I really don't understand it persoanally. I find kicking another teams ass with everyone working as a team so much more enjoyable. The people who don't do this just spoil the wholse experience for me.

Oh and don't even get me started on dicks who take vehicles and just drive right past you leaving you stranded in the middle of ****ing nowhere. I've actually shot a couple of people for that - there is no excuse - none

Thanks again to everyone who is sharing their advice

There really is no reason to ever, ever be a lone wolf.
That is kinda pointless, cause a good commander wont waste his resources for a oneman squad...

Disagree. It's a bad commander who doesn't realise that all his men are important and all need his help.

Think about it. Two CPs. One has 5 friendlies and a few enemies, one has 1 friendly and a couple of enemies. Use the UAV for the single guy so he then has the advantage over his opponents because the other CP has lots of friendlies supporting each other. If you ignore the lone man squads then you lose the CPs; if you assist them you hang onto more of those CPs and win those rounds.

Also, the point about only squad leaders having access to resources isn't true. Squad members can request things which show up for their squad leaders, who then pass them up to the commander.

Finally, you are forgetting the biggest benefit of forming a squad - the ability to be ordered where to go. Without that it's a load of people running around thinking they're playing UT.

I understand how you feel on this one...heh...especially on larger maps. This tends to happen alot...but for me, I guess I see past the bs and hot foot it to where I need to go....no sense in letting everyone know where I am at. Worse yet, when I do get a ride from someone, I have a tendancy of getting shelled, bombed....to sum it up...blown to bits because of the air superiority.

About the teamwork as a whole.....I find ALOT more teamwork in US servers than I do in Japan. I see squads formed but it is sheer pandemonium when you see where everyone is at. When I countersnipe with the medic, I always spawn on the squad leader for support....if I feel like playing on my own program.....I snipe (not too much teamwork there) and get the job done. I have been playing medic alot lately.....but I still get urges to snipe.

Practice makes perfect....pretty soon you will be accused of cheating because you can pick people off at 350m~400m on a constant basis :laughjk .....I was accused of this in Kubra Dam, I was well concealed looking at the construction point on a hill in the vicinity of that ramp. I saw a guy running towards the edge of the dam and went prone. Obviously he was a sniper because of his movements. The only problem with him was I could see his figure and took the shot and killed him...this happened about 5 times and soon this guy was accusing me of cheating. It's not my fault I chose my spot and he chose the same spot for me to look at. Either way, his team took the bridge point and he knifed me only to find out later that he stayed at my spot he shot at me and missed a few times hitting right in front of me, so I picked him off from his spot at the top of the dam....sucks to be him....

i got bout 310 kills with sniper rifles....m24 is the best one...unless your camping at an enemy airbase picking off the annoying jet pilots when they go in the planes or choppers. BF2 is one of the hardest games i play for sniping, on call of duty i can lead perfectly 1 shot 1 kill. O and by the way "assie cricket team - world beaters"...ahem....ENGLAND (we owned ure ass )

I think it's important to be in a squad or do a squad even if you play alone. You can comunicate with all the other in a squad, nobody else can see that far as a sniper. The sniper sux at taking out tanks so ya can ask for assistans. The most important, you can talk with the commander and he can talk to you.
In a squad i make covering fire and act as Gods eye, and alone I always mark on the map what my intentions are, defend this or attack that. Its important for tha whole picture of the game that the commander controls.

                            ScOpE, maaaate....

After 18 years of one side winning a 2-nation competition, we kind and generous aussies decided to give the Ashes back to the poms. Just once. We'll take it back in 07. Okay, sure, it was an abysmal performance. but we proved it was an aberration only last week! by winning 3 one-dayers easily, and a test match with 2.5 days to spare, all against the best of the rest of the world!!!!! fair effort.... no?

And as for another sniping tip, well try not to go for anything thats too far away to begin with. for starters, a stationary target at 150m is perfect, gradually work your way up. it just takes practice, sure you'll get owned to begin, but you learn so quickly, and with the super tips people have posted, it'll help you get that much better that much quicker.
