Help being a sniper - I suck

Hi all,

Can anyone share some tips with me on how to successfully kill people as a sniper. I'm not kiding but when I try and shoot people - they never die, and I'm not that bad a shot. I unlocked the "really heavy" sniper rifle but that seems to do jack **** as well.

Example, I'm at the top of a building looking down on an enemy who is prone and looking back up at me. I use the heavy sniper rifle and hit him bang in the face. Does he die? Does he "£$%

Can anyone offer some advice on how to actually kill people - at long range I haven't managed to kill a single person and I have quite a few awards for all the other classes.

You should do what I did:

Unlocked the G36C, and went as spec ops. G36C>M95>M24

Alright, when you are using the M95 (the unlockable sniper rifle) when you shoot someone just about anywhere (except the head) you'll take their life bar down to two bars... which is almost nothing. If you can, just try hitting them in the head and you'll get a 1 shot wonder... but if you hit them and it doesn't kill them in the first shot, whip out your pistol and it should only take 1 pistol shot to kill them. If you aim with the pistol you can hit people surprisingly far away, it might take a whole clip to do so but you can get it done.

i agree completely. dont wait for the bolt-action to finish on the m95, chances are is your target will run. take out the pistol and get him.

Cant tell Iv only told 2 people the other weak points on the infantrymen. Lol sorry.....

The only advice Im able to assist you with is keep sharp focus on the most weak point on the infantrymen watch every where around you and make it 1 shot 1 kill. carry on Sniper.

Yeah, if you switch immediately and don't even let the game go out of scoped mode you won't even have the bolt action animation happen when you switch back. It works with the shock paddles too, if you switch immediately after you press the fire button then switch back, it will be fully charged up.

Try to think about where you'll be sniping. NEVER go on top of hills and buildings, where your outline will be seen against the background. The best spots, IMO, are places with grass (or anything that is not flat and matches your camo) and where you'll be mostly hidden behind something (like aiming at that little space between a wall and a tree that gives you a perfect view of the construction site in karkhand). Don't forget to watch the outline of your rifle too, that's how a lot of 'em get spotted!
second commandment : Don't camp!!! people don't like being sniped and will most likely try to find and punch a few holes in you
I don't snipe often (only when I get sniped) but these tactics have worked quite well in my case so you should give them a try!

Edit : someone said g36c>m95>m24, idon't really agree. The m24 is much more accurate! Go for the head!!

I got one:
A) Squeeze trigger [mouse button]
B) Keep button pressed for a second to make sure your shot is going where you wanted it to w/o your vision being blocked by the reload animation
C) Let your target walk into your sights, that way it is just a matter of timing the shot.
D) There is no bullet travel time.
E) there is no bullet drop.
F) Move around often
G) Claymores, Claymores, Claymores.
K) Drink cold beer.

YEP conceil yourself mate, I hide in dark glum shadowed areas I also love to have alota grass around me so that helps me out. Wait patciently for the right moment, Crawl into or outa of a position if necasery oh also MAKE SURE the position your over looking has nobody looking in your direction or around in because if you take that shot then the sound/smoke bang ur dead man, you can kiss ur ass good by.


Dont call for supplies to your posiiton if posible call it like way out of the zone ur sniping in because the enemy foot soldier could see the create and warn the other or even spot ur ass. have i said enough lol.

There are some lessons that you will learn, if you stick with it.

1) Always be mindful of your surroundings.
2) Don't hesitate to turn your headphones way up. This way you can hear a person moving near you.
3) Remember that this game is built with both visible graphics and invisible graphics. What I mean is, just because you have a clear view doesn't mean your bullet will pass the corner of the building. You are mush more likely to hit if you are away from any solid objects. If you crawl to the edge of the roof and look down and fire, the bullet might for all of 1 inch and stop. Try moving farther toward the edge to the point where you feel like you are hanging off and the shot will kill the passerby. Of course, you will be spotted.
4) Try some game time as an anti sniper. Just hunt snipers and you will learn some very good tricks.
5) Don't be afraid to die, just make sure you don't die alone.
6) Always have claymores out to secure your rear... just not too close. I always count on 2 kills per round to claymores.
7) Some maps flat out suck for snipers. Have an alternate favorite.
8) Becoming a good sniper means spending time being terrible. You will learn what works and what doesn't. The worst thing you can do is sit in one spot all game waiting for the enemy to come to you. Hop in a tak as a gunner, a helo, a HMMV whatever. Then jump out hit the grass and scope the map out. You will find a great set of hiding areas where noone looks to find you.
9) Remember some targets cannot be passed up. Don't always camp flags. Your teams strategic assets are a wonderful source of kills. Nothing better than knocking a few berets off.
10) Until you really learn your weapon, don't try hitting moving targets. It just gives away your position and that = death. Remember that you keep hearing the sniper warnings on your net... they have the same thing on the other team and a good helo pliot will ruin your day once he knows where you are.

sometimes when im sniping i'll be dead on the whole time, then a couple of days later i'll get back on and not be able to hit **** all. Maybe its because of latency issues or something.... but anyway i really couldn't give you advice, cause i really dont have any. Shooting a rifle is second nature to me, so i just applied what i have learned in real life to the game, and most of the time, it works out pretty good, but of course there are those bad days lol......
