    VOIP yes or no

I ask because I decided I would start doing the voip thing. But as a NON voip user I always HATED listening to people talk while I was playing. GOOD voip people that actually use it for team structure I have never had a problem with, but people just playing around, joking, yelling, being a-holes has always put me off. Now after disliking those people I have decided to join the few that actually use it how it should be used..

what do you guys think of it as a whole?

When used to coordinate a functioning team the team can become almost unstoppable.

It brings a whole new aspect to online gaming for me. Now, I can't stand playing on a squad that isn't talking. It's great for tactics and such, but it's also nice to vent about that MEC chopper on Sharqi that keeps wiping out the squad :p

it also has something else, that people without voip dont have. the ability to chat with you team, even if you are DEAD! yes, you can talk to anyone in your squad anytime. helps a lot if you can tell your teammates about the exact location of the sniper who you saw just before he killed you

I don't mind using to get squad tactics through like it should but I tend to just joke around on it with friends when I use it normally.

One of the many significant improvements in BF2 over BF42 was the addition of VOIP. How many times in BF42 did you wish you could talk (without typing) to your team?

It is an incredible dissapointment, to me anyway, that so few people use it. Most are still just running around acting like Rambo while others are simply working to increase their stats. On a side note, it may be a good thing that the unlocks are so much easier to get now, maybe people will migrate to VOIP after they gets their unlocks.

When I've been fortunate enough to be in games with people actually using VOIP it has been a terrific experience. Coordination, team play, focused objectives. Great stuff. And for all you score whores out there... my scores (which are usually mediocore) have been much higher since I'm not alone but with a team.

It's a real shame people haven't taken to using this important feature of this game. VOIP and the commander mode, in my estimation, were the two most important aspects of this new release.

Maybe we should try, somehow, to advertise servers that have players that consistantly use this......

I'm in agreeance with the importance of effective VOIP communications. If I'm in any kind of vehicle with someone else that's not a member of my clan (and thus not on Ventrilo) I will always try to get them into my squad so I can talk to them. It makes life a lot easier to be able to call out targets.

I believe that once people get their unlocks they will use voip less. If you want to improve your stats and get unlocks quicker, teamplay is the best strategy. The more flags capped the more points. The more teamwork points too. A moron running around by him/herself trying to improve their stats on their own...is a waste of space....okay I'm being harsh. It'st one thing to play as a lone wolf every now and then...but I agree the fun is in the bun. Whatever that means.

YES! I played on a server last night for about 3.5 hours and in every round the squad I was in used voice or when I was commanding the majority of my squad leaders used voice. That's never happened before to me. The difference in the game was amazing.

Now, I value the teamplay aspects of BF2 and winning rounds much more than running up my individual point total. My son is exactly the opposite. He's all about seeing how high he can get his score - I don't even think he notices if his team wins or loses. I mention this because I think VOIP makes the game more enjoyable for players like me while those seeking individual glory could care less.

                        What was the server?
I hate it when my friends don't want to use voip. I wish xfire had a way that you could invite all of your friends to a voice chat then play the game.

But the group chat thing doens't even work. If you invite someone to a room you created only one of them can get in or one can talk and you can't talk to more than one person at a time.

                        VOIP is awsome!

It was the VSFGamers ranked server:

I always use it, and to be honest I rarely have an issue with people doing anything but talking about the game.

If there are smacktards in a squad I usually just join another.

People who are in squads which are using VoIP and don't use it **** me off more.

I use VoIP fairly actively as a commander, and in-game when I'm playing alone, but for the most part gameplay occurs with friends in TS, so VoIP is on, but not used much...

At least its hella better than the 12 yr olds signing in CS:S's VoIP :)
