You should check if the server your on is using teamspeak. If it is, use that instead. I agree with you though. Playing on pubs can be a alot more tedious when no one is chatting. The most fun I have is with this one guy who barks orders at us. He doesn't even fire a bullet, just issues orders and because of this, we become alot more verbal. Its great. I wish there was a way for whole squads to join a game and enter the same team while in the same squad.

Well for a start you won't hear a thing unless you're in a squad or you are a squad leader. Then there's the fact that most people don't have/can't be arsed to get microphones. Very rare outside my own buddies do I ever hear anyone else :)
Then there's the sad fact that 75% of BF2 players either haven't a clue how to play the game, or don't have a clue how to use their grey matter, or simply don't care.
So now it comes down to finding a squad of decent human beings who all have mics.
I know I sound a bit harsh with all this but you're right, the game can suck donkey juice when you play it alone.

Just join a clan.

the biggest problem for me is still the people who completely refuse to squad up -- GET THE POINT PEOPLE YOU'LL HAVE MORE FUN, POINTS, ETC., if you just JOIN A SQUAD!

Look, sometimes I type some messages , but never use invoice chat, some of us live together with there girlfriend, and when I am sitting there chattering over a mic , crap over BF2 , she ain't going to like it, and she is going to fing me the biggest idiot ever.

What bothers me most about the invoice chat, is that most guys abuse it for chatting, bla bla bla so you can't hear the ingame sounds and crap, that's why I put the whole thing off.

And someone with a bit of a brain and expierence in gaming , will understand perfectly what is going on in the game, and what is going to happen, ....

What do you need more??? you have an extremely detailed minimap, you have a commander, .... and still you don't know what is going on ???

How exactly did you intend to help with this reply?

Ill entertain you and answer it. Lets see, things I would need to say to the guy next to me:

-Hey, hows it going.
-I died (yes, I know he should realize it, but in 1st person view you cant see behind you)
-Lets go here
-Watch out
-What class are you (I havent learned to tell yet at a glance)
-Lets go to that vehicle
-What should we do next
-Duck!
-Hey, can I add you to my friends list. (OH WAIT, THIS F-ED UP GAME DOESNT EVEN HAVE A BUDDY LIST)

The possibilities are endless on what I would need to say to the guy standing next to me, or to people accross the map.

In response to joining a clan: I dont really play enough, nor am I good enough, nor do I really wanna commit to something like that I dont think.

Sad to hear that this game can suck when played alone. I dont really blame the players, but the structure of the game. I mean, damn, theres not even a freaking friends list in the game...what kinda modern online game doesnt have a friends list?!!? And with communication, I wouldnt even think twice about it if I havent seen other Online FPS games successfully use ingame communication just fine (Halo 2 is my experience).

So far, Im very displeased with the communication structure built into this game. To have to rely on an outside chat cliet to have fun in the game really sucks. Hopefully EA will remedy this in a xpac or something. And for the love of god....give us a freaking buddy list!!!!

Best way to get in a squad thats using voip is to get in a squad and start using it yourself. Don't wait to hear others use it first. (remember, press B to talk, V to talk to commander when your squad leader)

Also, never go solo. your right, it is no fun. Always get in a squad and stay with the squad. if the squad leader justs flys the planes and attack chopper, get in a new squad.

If there are no squads, then make one, if no1 joins very soon, then open up the squad page, then at bottom click manage squad, and invite other players to join you. you can do this as much as you want untill your squad is full. and always remember to kick out squad members that are not helping out your squad.

I agree. I have developed a lonewolf style of play to compensate for this though. Simply find what you like to do and tweak it so you can do it without needing anyone else. :)

I would like to say as well that i love squad play and try to take every opportunity to play in one but sometimes i feel it is a hassle, so instead of moaning about it i have just changed the way i play. I have a clan and we always play as a squad and always try to get a clan member as commander. We all use ventrillo, it has spoiled me to the point that i can't stand to play with new players.

VOIP is a great tool to use if you don;t use TS or Ventrilo.You can chat within your squadmates by pressing the B button(i believe thats the default).Toader, if you and your buds want to game, man drop by our place.we use ventrilo and would be more than happy to hop on a battlefield with ya..www.heinzhaus.org

About your first line, you asked if there is something wrong with you , and there is, you just mis something wich makes that you can't understand some things and having problems with things.

About you second line : you are probably under 18 years old or something, don't know what, but at a point when you live with someone you need some understandings, and you don't need to grow a pair and do everything you just feel like and screw the rest, it's called mature.

And why should I do an effort to chat in a game when it's only used by idiots telling jokes, chatting over stupid things, ...

i think its alot more fun to be on the battlefield, using vent and being with people you game with alot..that way they know your style, your attitude and your sense of humor.plus for me, it makes the game more fun to have a squad with a variety of classes running as a team capping points or defending key positions..very fun stuff.

hey buddy how about you relax?

its kinda strange to me that you dont know whats going on in-game

its not rocket science

you capture flags and you kill people -- commorose more than makes up for the lack of VOIP -- commands and requests for everything are right at your fingertips -- pretty fcking simple if you ask me -- and for a player with your stats, i wouldn't talk smack about people who are 100 times better than you

You can do what I did first starting out - go squad leader and make a custom squad called "on voice" or "on mic" or "use mic" etc. You tend to get more people in there that actually use it, and like another poster said - most of the time when you start using it, others in your squad will as well.

I cannot tell you how many times I was in a squad where no one was using voice, everyone just typing and going about normal business. One time I actually asked - is anyone on voice? To my amazement - EVERYONE in the squad was - we all just thought we were the only ones that were set up to use it - LMAO.

You can even put chat up in the beginning or middle of the round - join xxx squad if you want to use voice.

Once you get in a good voice using squad - the game gets so much better. Especially if you can find a server you like, and a regular group of players that you get to know and work with on there.

Just gotta find your server! Start by making sure you are playing only on servers that have it enabled, then go from there. You will find it.
