Hi Total BF2 Community. I am from the 1944 Alpha/Moderating team at http://www.franticgames.com/1944/

Perhaps Annihilator was a little scarce with information here. The game, 1944: D-Day - Operation Overlord will be a realistic simulation of the entire event, over a single, massive map of Normandy, re-created in fine detail using the next-generation Reality Engine, and other key technologies such as Speedtree, and the Novadex physics engine.

We strive to ensure our Indie Game surpasses even the highest industry standards and meets the expectations of our fans.

The game will feature over 70+ realistically created weapons, over 200+ vehicles, and a highly detailed and realised recreation of Normandy as it was back in 1944.

              Features include:

              -24 Hour Clock
              -Destructible Terrain and Buildings
-Fully functiniony physics system that enhances gameplay
-Over 250,000 potential Characters to play as
              -Learning Adaptive AI system
-Over 160x160 km of detailed terrain
-Fully fleshed out country side using Speedtree technology
-Online support for upto 250 people

Meh nothing special...at this point there is a good chance it wont even get made... they are at pre-alpha stage so don't get your hopes up.
Well, I would say it was something special. No game like this has ever been made. At least, none I can think of.

And, considering the ammount of money thrown into purchasing the rights to the engine and other technologies, I can safely say to expect this game to be released, and not thrown into the dump.

d day was on 1941 and it was usa vs germans in france.
No. The infamous amphibious landings of D-Day (Part of Operation Overlord) occured on June 6th, 1944.

So is this going to be Multiplayer or Singleplayer? And the only map to be played on is Normandy, and the only way we will be able to get another is from a mod?

Spending a lot of money isn't a guarantee it will get finished.. the Warhammer MMORPG comes to mind.

I hope it does get finished though, should be interesting

as for D-Day being moved to 1941.. what history books did you read? must be the new and revised version..
