...but that is just it, if the enemy attack chopper knows what he is doing, he IS NOT DOWN LOW until after you've got a base or two.

At that point, the only low targets are boats which are easily picked off by the tanks and jeeps at the tip of each arm of the island.

The smart pilot is sitting mid height, where he can see the entire spectrum and then he just points his nose at you and tells his gunner to cut lose when he is ready.

Just because you always play against idiots, don't expect it to continue.

I just talk about this tactic, flying mid high range means you got way more enemy's for the BH, wich make that you have almost no chance to reach that point, you will make it to fist points on the idland this way, but they aren't as important as the main point, because that point realy breaks the focus of the chinees, taking a first point don't break the focus of the chinees because they just can keep on doing what they where doing, only they are braught back a bit.

AT EVIL SNOWMAN, no offence man, your tactic is as good as mine, I just want to give a tip, wich is fast and works almost always, at the point the BH reaches the main base, there aren't to many chinees around anymore, just some idots waiting for a plane or something, but the heavy stuff like tanks or attack chopper is already at the front

And suicide pilots ??? do not be afraid, on wake island you won't see many because they know if they crash , that there is a big chance they loose there jet to another guy, and on wake jets are very popular.

But again, you need to fly between 185 and 200 m (600 foot)

Youve deffinatly not been playing on the servers i have because suiciding gimps are the norm 1 will do it and then someone else gets the idea and they do it . And what your forgetting is if there on a suicide mission first thing they do is fly to the carrier were your gaining your altitude. Im not saying its a bad tip it is a good one i do use it from time to time but theres been plenty of times ive been on the usmc carrier and not matter what i did i just couldnt get of it. When people play the game the ways its ment to be fair enough but it only takes a couple of gimps and the hole expierence can be ruined for everyone usmc cant get of the carrier 90% of the chinese cant get a score and the only ones to benifit are the suiciding gimps.

the tip is mainly for the start of the round, then you can get off the carier without problems because the chineese jets aren't there yet, but I know once the round has started for a few minits, it's realy hard to get off the carier, not only do the chinees jets attack it constantly(realy lame) , but you have some chinees commanders who like it very much to put there artilery on the carier to, but this is just another problem

If I have to pilot a full blackhawk off the carrier at the beginning of the round, i'll go right out to the punishment edge and follow it all the way in. A word to the jet pilots to keep the enemy jets occupied doesn't hurt.

If you're seen, you're dead, full blackhawk is the juiciest target in the entire game. :-)

The bail out of a fast mover as a sqad leader is a great technique, although I feel it is somewhat cheap. :-)

I agree a great tip...we all agree...starting as usmc is tough on Wake. I feel like the carrier is a little too close to the island.

So this tip gives everyone a starting chance....not to mention a free Airborne medal.

When using the BH I just hug the outside coastlines and flow low enough for my nuts to skip across the water. It's too low for IGLA sites (since the island is raised) and too close to land (trees, etc.) to be easy to spot and attack with a fighter.

Never been shot down on that map thus far.

I think I better tip is to be special ops. Run to the blackhawk put 2 C4 on it, then run to the Cobra and put a C4 on it and then throw the other tow on the ground around some units and pull the trigger. Lots of fun ensues.

Helo and Halo are 2 different words.

There are 2 emerging topics for this thread but it's all about how does USMC get an edge in what some regard as a disadvantage.

From what I usually see and for some reason, the action is almost always to the left side for USMC and MEC no one seems to go the right way off the carrier. Likewise, skip the first flag and get the second or go all the way. My preference is going low at speed with a crew then get off and cap the second flag and immediately remount and go for the main base, land the chopper in the middle and the mini-guns work real well against the helpless jet/ chopper wanna-be's plus pilot bails or switches to miniguns so no AA missiles against a grounded chopper.

I have played Halo before as well as either team. Get top altitude and then just hover over your target.

What I don't see in this thread is that it should be all one squad or a squad named BH-Halo. That way [and this works just fine] when you die on the ground, you respawn a freefall away from the target spawn.

I got my vet AT award on Wake in a BH parked near a bad guy spawn using the minigun and just mowed down the MEC guys. likely 20 kills in 2 or 3 minutes finally got sniped but well worth it.

Actually that's what I meant when I referred to giving your team an "enduring airborne spawnpoint". When your teammates find out what you are doing your squad fills up quick, and then more ask to join. Everyone I play with loves to freefall assault.

1) Impossible to get hit by IGLAs.
2) Difficult for the attack heli to hit you with hellfire. HE can't gain altitude fast and he is usually flying low.
3) Difficult for the TV to hit you - The pilot needs to tilt up the chopper so that the gunner gets a good view for his shot.
4) Difficult for a plane to see you.
5) Impossible for a plane to take a full HP blackhawk unless he wants to ram you (and he will), but that's his only way of doing it. Stingers will do nothing against a ready-to-flare chopper unless you hit the "second chance" window while flares are reloading. The window is very short and the only way pilot is gonna get it is if he is flying under 300 km/s. During that time he is losing altitude and the best way to do it is on a low-flying target that's not evading much.

This reminds me of the good old DC tactic of flying the MH-53 REALLY high in Wake and staying there as a spawn point(It was pretty hard, because you did'nt see a thing so you couldn't tell wether you were hovering or falling upside down, because there was no auto-hover). People would jump out, fall for ages and land wherever they wanted on the map :) In BF2, I usually fly high with the BH and do a loop to lose altitude at the enemy base... It is a fast way to get low and and looks really good .

Good suggestion...i think that should work with most of the lame pilots I see on the servers I play...LOL
