Most of you know for the USMC the first moments on wake are dificult, but here is a tip.

When the round starts, take the black hawk, and most of the time it will get full loaded, and do not, I repeat DO NOT , like almost everybody, fly low over the sea or whatever.

Go high, and I mean high, I fly the full BH to about 200m (600foot) , and go to the main chinees base, then put the nose of the BH down to reach about 20m and almost everybody gets out, the flag is taken in no time, and the chinees have lost there main base, meaning the can't focus anymore on one point to defend and have lost there base where tank, chopper and planes spawn.


MAIN TIP HERE is to fly high, this way you won't get shot down, and everybody seems to stay in to you get to the main base

Maybe, but most average pilots will only focus on what's near the ground/water and not look up.

Actually its human nature NOT to look up. My friend made it with his girlfriend in a tree...no one noticed.

Nice tip mate ive tryd it before sometimes it works sometimes it dosnt the problem is when you get pilots that want to suicide and take a BH down. They deliberatly just fly around looking for a BH to suicide into or well your climbing theyll come flying out of no were and suicide while your trying to gain that altitude. Its a major problem on that map you only need one suiciding plane gimp and the usmc are pretty much screwed and cant get of the carrier and the chinese win easily.

Not really. You get a jet pilot who is a squad leader parachute on a flag and then have 5 of his squadmates spawn on him when he lands...insta flag capture.

I've seen people capture the Chinese airbase within the first 30 seconds of the game (squad leader has a fast computer).

Blackhawk is a death trap on Wake, if you have reasonably competent people sitting in the enemy attack copter.

We just hover at mid altitude waiting for you, can see you if you go high or low, one tv missile and you're history. The last good nose gunner I had hit 98 on wake doing just this.

In that position, I only have to dodge other tv missiles and enemy jet rammers.

Seeing the other team screaming in general chat to shoot down that enemy F***ing chopper: PRICELESS, lol.

Very good tip. HALO jumps are very effective if you can get high enough, quick enough to avoid getting blasted by a jet. I usually take off straight north or south while climbing and have had pretty good results that way.
Once you get over 200m the jets don't really bother you.
One problem is that your crew can get a little bored and bail on you since it takes time to get that high, so make sure to invite them to a squad or type out your intentions.

for the ones who doesn't think this works, well , it works all the time, WHY ???

Because, you fly to high for the stinger sites on the ground
Because you fly to high and the assault chopper of the chinees is always down, checking ground and stuff,
The only real enemy is those jets, but first of all they most of the time don't fly this high, and if they do, you can use your flares because you don't have to wast them fro distracting ground stingers.

And suicide pilots ??? do not be afraid, on wake island you won't see many because they know if they crash , that there is a big chance they loose there jet to another guy, and on wake jets are very popular.

But again, you need to fly between 185 and 200 m (600 foot)

It's funny this should come up. I was doing this just yesterday with my friends and other players were getting bitchy about it. (even tried to kickvote me a few times). At the start of the map my squad would fill the bh and i'd take it up to 540m, thats as high as i could go. I then circled the enemy main until it was taken. My guys were haloing like crazy and having a blast. From that altitude you cannot be seen or heard. AA wont lock you up and attack choppers wont come for you. Just watch out for the chinese jet, after a while...well 3/4 through the round he finally made it up to me. I dodged his missles attempts easily for a while until he gave up and noobrammed me from underneath with his ground radar on to avoid detection. No big deal, it was just me in the chopper. Good times. Mission was accomplished and my squad had fun.

Oh yeah, btw...as much as the other team whined about me they were trying it with the Chinese helo the very next round.

Never heard of this trick, I'll definitely have to give it a try though. Wake island just isn't the same anymore so any tips are helpful!

@evil snowman, going so high isn't even needed, 200m will do , and just take a fast flight going down to the main base of chinees, 5 or 6 people are there then to take the flag and with 5 to 6 people you can take the flag very fast.

Also real enemy's aren't there because they put there tanks on the other side of wake, once the flag is taken, USMC starts spawning at the point and from that point on you can do a lot.

...but that is just it, if the enemy attack chopper knows what he is doing, he IS NOT DOWN LOW until after you've got a base or two.

At that point, the only low targets are boats which are easily picked off by the tanks and jeeps at the tip of each arm of the island.

The smart pilot is sitting mid height, where he can see the entire spectrum and then he just points his nose at you and tells his gunner to cut lose when he is ready.

Just because you always play against idiots, don't expect it to continue.

(to rombaft) True, for a quick/surprise capture you dont need to be that high. What I'm talking about is providing an enduring airborne spawnpoint for the squad. Sometimes it takes a while to take the airfield if it's defended or if someone c4's the flag to take out your squad trying to cap it. It sure beats having to start over from the ship in the event of failure to cap the flag in 1 try.

(to randomx) Yeah a real smart attack chopper pilot has the potential to cause you headaches, no doubt. BUT... until the success rate of this tactic declines significantly I will continue to use it. If you are heads up enough to nail me in the process, props to you..you are truly an asset to your team. (rare these days it seems )
