Ok, whatever you do don't go runnning into the middle of a firfight or where there are those big rambo battles. Try not to go down really well used streets or paths. Stick to the sides and flank areas. Try to stick in a squad or small group if possible too. The idea is to try to get the jump on the enemy. Spot him before he spots you type of thing. If you get the upper hand you can fire off a couple of shots before he knew what hit him.

If you are below half health don't keep running around fighting cause if you come into a firefight you are already at a disadvantage. Find a medic. Heal yourself then get back into it.

If your a sniper find nice areas to shoot from. Try not to sit ontop of buildings cause that's the first place people look for a sniper. Bushes on sides of hills can be effective. Once you've got a kill or two move position. People who get killed by a sniper tend to hold a grudge and will come looking for you.

At guns suck so try not to get in an all out firefight with a guy. Once you've fired a shot from the AT rocket move position. most of the time a tank doesn't have time to hit you if you jump out and get a shot off straight away unless he knows where you are.

Find those areas on maps that not many people know about that give you a tactical advantage. Best way to find these is see who seems to get the biggest score in your team and follow him around. Watch what he does and learn from it. there are a lot of talented players out there that can teach you a lot if you team up with them and help them. Best way to do this is be a medic for a while and follow him around. He usually won't mind you tagging along if your reviving him.

Another thing is to try and stick to a class for a while and get used to the gun and how that kit plays. If you keep swapping kits all the time you won't get a chance to get used to the gun and style of play. All the guns require slightly different techniques to play.

This is deffinatly the best advice in the thread the guy speaks the truth.

P.S. if you do decide to armour whore (so you can get loads of kills) always keep your vehical moving irraticcaly its much hard to hit if you do that (and your very likely to run over sneaky sf trying to c4 you ). Also if your in a tank against another tank at close to medium range aim for the tracks 2 shot garranted to kill it most other places take 3 shots sometimes even 4. Remember to press x it releaase smoke to cover your tracks when in a tank battle but if the enemys close enough they will still be able to see your tags through the smoke and still shot you BUT this goes both ways. Anyway these are just tips for amour if you want to get your frag rate up fast but for general game play deffinatly listen to A$$a$$ination he's bang to rights in what hes saying there.

Hello to all,
a good way of learning is to join the best squad on the map and once die , you close the respwan screen and follow your squad mates with camera switch ("c" by default), it's very informative :)

Don't try to out-shoot your opponent if it's a 1-on-1 unless you're very accurate. If you think you're gonna die then retreat (usually round a corner). When just behind it, your enemy will 3 times out of 5 try to run after you (after all, he's spent all those precious bullets on you and made no kill), so leave a small grenade just next to the corner by tapping the right mouse button! Or better yet a claymore if you're a sniper. It's a nice trick I've found

Hate to use such a BIG quote
but this guy gave GREAT advice
also=
most all of us started out just like you
(unless they had years of older BF style games)
at one time I was 2000 K and 3000 D
(ie approximately)
then I made it my personal goal to improve just that one ratio
mostly = was more patient in game
now have 2000 MORE kills than deaths
and yes , armor helped alot as well

It will come in time, my kills was almost 1000 less than deaths now it's about 135 less, hopefully in next few weeks it will be in positive. Just keep on trying, you will get there.

Practise, practise, practise, know your enemy, practise, practise, retreat when outnumbered, find teammates, practise, think of where your enemy expects you to be and dont be there, leave nades in your wake.

that's pretty normal, if you got 2000 kills more and still have that ratio i think you should just stop playing BF2 :P

Ow and use ur brains a bit, and always scan ur surroundings before you run in there... If you want to be a little prostitute i suggest you practice in the vehicles first on empy servers or single player....

Think back on how you have been playing over the past few weeks/months...and stop playing like that - lol.

Assasination had a good post with some good tips. Trying being more strategic, rather than a run and gun quake style killing free for all.
