Last night on Karkand, I was at the top-most CAP Point, there were 4 of us capping the cp, I was an engineer, I ran out and put 5 mines near the sandbags sorrounding the CP, I did this while the other 3 were capping. As soon as the flag was ours, this asswhistle jumps in the mech van and takes off, running over 2 mines, "BOOM"!
He punishes me and goes on a rant about mine-layers. I told him I just put the mines there, and was he blind.
He asks me why I did it, just then he respawns as a captured LAV adn M1A1 rolls up and kills us all and caps the flag. Had he watched where he was going (SKULLS), the enemy would have tripped the mines and we would have kept the CAP.
To all you biscuits out there who are blind to mines (SKULLS), PAY ATTENTION!

I am one of those complaining. Just today I was defending the gatehouse on karkand. Noticing the tank was empty and unused, I decided to try going around and hitting them from the back. Alas, I could not do so.
The bridges had been blown by spec ops to stop advancement there, so obviously the only other solution is to use the land bridge. No less than 3 engineers had laid their mines all over the land bridge...
While mines can keep enemies out, they can also trap your team inside. A large majority of engineers who use mines often fail to leave an exit for teammates who would rather travel on wheels.
Any scenario you can come up with where mines somehow hindered your movement, the same could happen to the enemy. And those exits for your team are enterances for your enemy. Sometimes an enterance for the enemy will do more bad than an exit for your friends will do good.
ya mines are fairly easy to avoid and its never the enginers fault unless he sticks it blatently in front of you no reason to hit a friendly mine other than foolishness
