He lied, he doesn't have your IP, even if he did, he probably couldn't do anything. Chill. Seriously, don't listen to these people, that'd be over reacting. He does not have your IP addy unless he is the Server Admin. Even then, I wouldn't worry because unless you leave your PC open to attack, there is nothing he can do. If you're really nervous, call your ISP and request that they refresh your dynamically assigned IP.

wouldn't "ipconfig /renew" do this without intefering with the ISP? That of course, assumes you've not got a router in between you and the Net. If so, you may be able to log on to the router and get it to cycle...

If you have a router installed, all that does is refresh the private IP assigned by the router (192.168.1.100) which can't be seen outside on the internet. Additionally, most routers have NAT which helps prevent unauthorized packet data from reaching any PC connected to the network.

If one is connected directly to the modem, they are in greater risk of intrusion. Either way, only the ISP can actually release and reassign a dynamically assigned IP. If one has a static IP, the same applies in that only the ISP can change it.
