If the before mentioned options in dxdiag still are disabled/not available, then that is still the problem.

Have you considered a fresh install of XP where you don't install on top of the other XP but a new install where you format the harddrive during XP install.

There's a guide at tweakhound that goes through the steps of installing XP.

Does this mean lots of backing up and losing all my files, might take a while to back up, over 65gb of stuff, I wasn't really prepared to go to those lengths to make the game work, I will HOPEFULLY be getting a new computer for chrismas anyway.

Sorry FLY, didnt notice your post there, Ill try those suggestions you said.
Thanks for your help anyway, Stuart

I recently downloaded the BF2 Multiplayer Demo from EA's website (my friend recomended it). I installed the game and restarted my computer as usual, all went as normal. It ran perfectly until the Battlefield 2 screen faded, It stayed Faded for a few seconds then disappeared completely, about 1-2 seconds later the screen came on with a cursor, every 5-7 seconds disappearing, for around 2 seconds, this kept happening until I pressed ALT + F4, The game closed. I looked in the Readme file for help on this, it said to delete the following directory - \My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles. After I did this, I ran the game, it took a few seconds to load, my screen went black then my desktop appeared with no signs of BF2 running. I also have DXT Support Enabled, I have the same graphics card as my friend who can work it perfectly, (ATI Radeon 9200 SE AGP), I have an AMD Athalon 64. Im not sure how to fix it so I've turned to you guys' to help me.

          Thanks in advance, Stuart

Well, regarding to those backups.... I usually format in to two disks; one for system and applications (inc. games) ~20% of disk size, and the rest for personal things and backup...., got it?.
