so hold on... when you get 20,000 GP's... you advance to 1st sgt if you have all the basic badges *or* master sargent if you dont.

you cant get master sargent... then get all the basic badges... then get 1st sgt?

Negative, once you get Master Sergeant, you can never go up to 1st Sergeant. Cruel yet ingenious isn't it

this is what i did...i found a guy in my neighborhood who plays bf2...waited till i knew he was playing bf2 one night and lit his house on fire! He ran out of the house trying to put the fire out and meanwhile his guy was just sittin there at a spawn point afk and i knifed him seven times!!! Voila knife badge!

Well, "up" is not really the term I would use because both Master Sergeant and First Sergeant are E8 in Rank. They have the same rank status but the First Sergeant patch looks cooler.

However, EA/DICE never told anyone that there was a division between the ranks based upon those who got basic badges early in their game profile and those who did not get the basic badge requirements prior to reaching the global score of 20,0000.

Not possible. You need the basic badge to be awarded the veteran badge. You may get them both at once, but you get the basic first.

well then i just got screwed by the patch... i had enough xp proior to the patch to make it to master / 1st sgt. but i never got a couple of badges... ie. esplosives, and knife...

after the patch... i got the explosives, thinking i get the knife and im 1st sgt. but i guess thats not the case...

so when i get 50K,,, i get the next rank tho ... right?

Right. If you didn't have the badges before hitting 20,000 points using verion 1.03, you will be Master Sgt and never get First Sgt. Next rank change is at 50,000 global points.

Right. If you didn't have the badges before hitting 20,000 points using verion 1.03, you will be Master Sgt and never get First Sgt. Next rank change is at 50,000 global points.
